I would like to setup the windows 2000 backup to create scheduled backups nightly. When in the setup, there are options for the file name and media name. If I use the same schedule every night, it overrights the same file, and uses the same media name. Is there a way to create a "dynamic" file name and media name, so it creates new files each night, with new media names attached to it? I would like to keep a running backup...then I can just delete several days back all the time.
If that is not possible, what would be a good, low cost, solution that creates nightly backups with unique file names?
Thanks!

There is a ntbackup command for access win2k backup system. Unfortunately it does not support * characters. You have to know which directory you want to back up. You could research that or you can use the backup wizard and append the backups to the file. I looked at this backup utility in the past but never used. Maybe this would work for you as well.

You dont saw to what you are backing up the data too so one assumes another machine or tape drive.
The windows option isnt all that to be honest and the only semi decent options are ones that cost money but will give you the options you are after.
I use livevault and its the best I have found for windows machines of all sorts as long as its permanantly connected to the wacky web.
Can get costly though if you have alot of data to backup - but then that needs to be weighed against the potential loss.
