I plan to setup a big vbulletin board..so the bandwidth is ok at rackshack. What i worry is the server will crash..

Is the cobalt processor good to run?!

Lol... Why's that? I have a few Cobalt RaQ4i's and I'm very satisfied with them. They work good for people like me who need a server for personal sites. The processor is rather crappy I know (lets face it, 450MHz is not that powerful), but it does good for most people. What I might do is purchase a RaQ4, take out the processor, replace it with a faster one, and see if it works. Who knows, it might.

A server for personal sites? Damn your site must be popular :)

Raq's have poor IO, thats life, but I if your very large, check into 512mb ram, the more ram the better off you'll be when running heavy MySql boards....

Excellent advice.

Lol. It's not that they are really popular. It's that one of the sites I used to run had heavy CPU usage due to a CGI script I ran on it. Shared hosting services would shut it down. That was the reason I decided to get a RaQ in the first place. After I got one for an affordable price, I decided to just skip shared hosting all together and just use the RaQ.

A RaQ 4i should be able to handle a busy vBulletin board without any major problems, especially if you upgrade the memory. And, Rackshack comes highly recommended. :)

Well, although I run a leased 4r, it is not what powers WHT, and I'm not entirely sure what help I can give. The server this site is on is more powerful. The RaQs are probably more powerful than people give them credit for, however they won't run the national defense systems :D

This sounds to me, that your vB is on the way to get big..

Use a Raq to start and if get problems then switch...
