View Full Version : Owner/Founder???

mantra

I have a small advertising company that I would like to get business cards for. It's just a home-based business that I run.

What should I call myself on the business card?

Founder?
Owner?
Business Owner?
CEO?

Anything else?

Thanks

Go with owner. Small advertising companies don't need CEOs and it just makes you sound like you're trying to be something you're not.

CEO is more like for corporations
"Business Owner" is better

yeah, I was thinking of putting "business owner" since it sounds down to earth .. yeah . CEO would be for large corporations..

'Business owner' or 'Owner'... they both sound more personable and friendly.

I was a partner in a small ad agency once. We called ourselves as Managing Partners and added additonal line stating what we were in charge of.

For example I was Managing Partner- Creative and Production and my other active partner was Managing Partner- Business and Finance

I use "Founder" personally.

You can't legally put CEO unless you are a corporation. It is illegal to act as a corporation without the proper documentation. I doubt this applies to you, or that you even care, but hey; I'm contributing to the post.

My business cards say;
Justin Dalrymple
Chief Nerd

... Which is basically the down to earth way to say "Software Engineer"

Na Owner, founder sounds like something you would call the leader of a group or gang.

Many corporate owners are referred to as the founder.
In my mind it is a term of respect.

I typically refer to myself as the "operations manager".

I'd call myself the Head Jabroni.

I agree with Darrell, how about Operations Manager? Although that can sound a bit corporate, Business Owner, or Owner should suffice.

Owner is your best choice. You're neither Founder, President or Especially CEO since it is not a charity or one of a kind organization, nor it is a publicly traded corporation.

And I personally laugh at kids who call themselves CEOs of companies that they started 1 month ago and where they are the only employee. They do it because they think it makes them look cool, but guess want - they ain't cool, more like chilly.

Good luck in biz though, hope you make a lot of money.
