Simone 08-06-2001, 07:00 PM I'm planning with my partner to start an LLC company in California for selling web hosting and web design.
Because now We are Italian resident we don't know well California laws and all requirement to run a company in California
and before to pay a professional we would like to know average monthly expense an LLC company can have.
We need a tax accountant?
How much cost monthly a tax accountant?
slade 08-06-2001, 10:17 PM It varies by state, but there are a few places online you can become inc'ed or llc'ed from...
search for "online incorporation"
In NC, it cost about $400 to get set up.
Monthly/recurring costs would be whatever your state/local government requires for a LLC.
Yes, you want to have an accountant, or at least someone who will agree to take all your info and finish up the paperwork for you.
Planet Z 08-07-2001, 12:19 AM I don't know about California, but in Florida it's $150 a year for a corporation. I'd assume the fee would be similair for an LLC. I forget what the original cost was, but I don't think it was much more than that ($150).

drhonk 08-07-2001, 01:29 PM I've seen a website of a company that can do everything for ya. All that include, business license from Delaware, business bank account, merchant account .. all for a $500 I think.
Simone 08-07-2001, 05:41 PM Thanks fo all reply I have more info now,
Drhonk,
do you remember the web site, I visited a lot of incorporation sites from yahoo and dmoz but I can't find any company offering incorporation + bank account and merchant account for $500.
All I found is 400$ for incorporation and 300$ + 100 of deposit for bank account.
I have considered Delaware but I will only incorprate there if I can't incorporate in California for legal reasons, because I'm not an U.S. resident.
All tips are welcomed
Simone
Dylan 08-07-2001, 09:37 PM drhonk, $500 for the works? You must be kidding. The average I've come across is about $1'700 for the works, so if you can remember the website url, that would be great.
Simone, $900? Not bad. Can you please post the url? Alot of companies I've spoken to have recommended that I, as a non-US citizen, incorporate my business as an LLC in Delaware or Nevada.
drhonk 08-07-2001, 10:06 PM I found it by accident when I was looking for a merchant account. I can't remember which one tho`..

jstanden 08-08-2001, 03:05 PM In California new LLCs are subject to an $800 IRS franchise tax due within the first 90 days of business.
This is the largest franchise tax amount in the U.S.
However, after we factored in the foreign company registration costs of doing business in California and being registered in Delaware -- we found registering in California to be the better deal.
incorporate.com can handle forming both LLCs and Corporations. They're a pleasure to deal with and the prices are fair.
Jonathan K. 08-09-2001, 09:08 AM Hi
For those interested in incorporating in Nevada or Delaware, here's an interesting article. Hmm rather a low price to incorporate in Nevada too.
Hope this helps :)

Incorporating as a C/S Corporation or Limited Liability Company (LLC) varies from state-to-state. Contact your state's State Corporation Commission or Business Affairs division for registration information.
Accountants aren't usually paid for on a monthly basis, but rather an on-demand basis. As in, when you call or visit, they bill you for that time. Much like how lawyers work.
Always consult the legal advice of a lawyer before making any commitments, however.
