does AOL give out DYNAMIC or STATIC ips?

i *really* dont think they'd be able to give out static ips to their xx millions of customers..

how could they give static ip's? That would probably use all the IP's in the world. :confused:

not quite, they would be far from it, there are billions of IP addresses in IPv4, these may be a little thin on the ground at the moment but AOL still couldnt use them all.

as soon as IPv6 comes in then it will be next to impossible to use them all.

Hey x, this is a tad off the topic, but you know somewhere I can read about that. I know about it, what it does, but I would like to know how they are implimenting it. I heard somewhere that they already started.

When IPV4 came out, no believed there would ever be 4 billion computers in the world. There might not be yet.

IPV6 seems like a lot, but then divide it by every appliance we'll have in the world and every car, and IPs for all the applications we can't even imagine now...
