Ive got a client who has thier domain registered at NSI but needs to be able to immediately receive email to his domian, right now the domain is in the process of being transferred to Dotster and will take probably about a week, is there anything I can do to receive email for the domain now or do I have to wait untill the domain is transferred?

Thanks much

Thanks much Sorry to bring bad news but I had to wait that week for the transfer...

I had tried putting through an interim DNS change on the domain through NSI but they blocked every single one...

Mind you, you could do worse than at least try... My problem related to the CryptPW function that NSol screwed up such that it wasn't being encrypted at all  doh!

Best of luck

I was just going to make the DNS change with NetSol but my server does not have a NIC handle associated with it so I couldnt do it that way, what is the NIC handle anyway? is that just thier internal method of ID?? so lame... so lame...

Any other suggestions?

NIC handle?

You only need anything like that if you are attempting to change the contact details...

DNS server settings only need the "name" and IP for each nameserver...

eg: ns1.mydomain.net 192.168.0.1

That's more than sufficient for changing DNS settings on NS.

NSI has (surprisingly) good service on the phone -- at least that's what I've experienced each time I've been in a similar situation. I'd recommend calling them.

If NSI has already initiated the change however, there isn't much anybody can do (from my experience). They'll give you the standard song and dance about the DNS information getting posted to the root servers every 12 hours or so, etc. etc.

Sorry to get off the topic, but that exact same thing happend to me twice. I had to call 3 times to get someone to manually change it with out having to send it a fax(i was on a short time table, and the fax always takes acouple of days for them to do)

I've had some REALLY amazing experiences with people on the phone at NetSol... Most times I get someone who's 15 forests short of a plank of wood.
