On my recently acquired RaQ3, I noticed Named runs as root, even tho' I've updated the RaQ with the latest patches from Cobalt. Is there any valid need or reason for this (Named running as root)? I've since changed Named to run as named, and noticed no problems with this (yet)...

You Definately want to run Named as named and not root. Just make sure that the named user has no priv's.
