So who loves the little blue box or who hates the little blue box!

I would love to hear some resonant opinions on cobalt servers. Do you use them? How many do you use? Do you hate them?

I love the ease
I HATE the hardware (crappy CPU)

There are +/- to them of course. If you understand that they aren't dual PIV 1.7's driven powerhouses, then you'll be ok. I've used RaQ3's and now a 4r and overall I'd say that the lease deals on them are hard to beat. I'd prefer it over a reseller account personally, and if you are a web master, designing sites and working on your own projects, it is nearly ideal.

The software is easy to use (not the quickest however), and if you have one busy site that has outgrown shared hosting, it is a nice step up.

It depends on what you are using it for I suppose. My clients like the Cobalt CP (as it does give enough basic functions to keep clients off your back), but members here seem to want/need a bit more in the way of control and would probably prefer Cpanel (or variants thereof).

I love my RaQ4i from Rackshack. Like Chicken and Eagle said, I love the ease of use. It took me about 2 days to get the basics of using it down and about 2 months to get some of the advanced features under the hat. I do have to admit that the CPU is rather slow so the RaQ isn't ideal for multiple high traffic sites. But for what I needed, it's great. I use my RaQ to host a few of my sites and a new site which will be a high traffic site. Eventually, I'm going to purchase a RaQ XTR and colocate it. So all and all, I love it. Worth the price of it if your site/sites have outgrown shared hosting.

I agree with the above:

Easy Interface
Sucky Hardware

I think they are great little boxes, it definitely opened up the webhosting industry to just about everyone. Most people that don't like the boxes are trying to use it for more than what it was intended to do. I am glad they got rid of the mips stuff, it is much easier to add goodies now to the boxes.

Security is a little sketchy, I am hoping now that they have been borged by Sun that it will improve and the updates will work and not have any more issues with new releases.
