I will just have to let out some steam... this hosting company, whose publicity you will find everywhere (thats why I booked with them...) and who claims to be "online 99.9%" is just about the worst host anyone can find. I have just been with them since the beginning of June and right from the first days my website has been offline for hours every few days. Today (and still..!) it has been offline for EIGHT hours already. I wrote to their support, but still haven't got any answer, but I am already used to that... they hardly ever reply, and if they do, it is just to say "sorry, we are moving our servers..." and I ask 'moving servers' since at least the beginnings of June?
You see, I have a paysite (erotic stories in German, all written by myself!) and lots of my members use a 3-day-subscription... can you imagine, what they think of me, when they cannot get into my site, although they have paid? When they complain, I am forced to give them a free entrance... that is, IF they complain and not just cancel their subscription and never come back, because they think I am cheating!
Anyway, I have just enrolled with http://www.wwm.net (webwide media), because I had to decide quickly and because I read a good review of them on another site.
Well, I just wanted to warn you all against velcom.com and I just hope to have more luck with this new server.

Greetings from 'hot' Spain to you all...
Anaiss

Never heard of them personally. Perhaps this thread will give them a chance to explain themselves. Though, you shouldn't just come right out and say that they are the worst host ever. They simply didn't workout for you. There are a lot of bad hosts out there, and everyone has their horror stories...it is how we announce them that makes the difference. Just my 2 cents, good luck with your new host.

First of all, thanks VanHost, for reading and replying to my post. Maybe I really shouldn't have been so harsh, but I just can't take anymore from these people. Today my site has been offline for EIGHT hours, they did NOT reply to my e-mail.... so, what do I have to call them? If you are interested, I am not the only one, who is complaining - here is another thread, which more or less says the same that I do:
http://boards.xbiz.com/showthread.php3?postid=124039

Anyway, I am already uploading my whole site to the new server - they made me an account in half an hour!

Thanks for wishing me luck... have a nice evening!
Regards,
Anaiss

Well I am sorry to hear of your bad review with them. Personally, as vanhost I have never heard a word about them, and doubt that we'll get to see any more information from their side unless someone with them happens to browse these boards. Anyway, I wish you luck with your new host. You had plenty of right to be angered with the service that was provided.

I am in no way defending their service, like CrazyTech says, you have a right to be angry...I was just putting in my 2 cents....

Sounds like your new host is a big step ahead of your old one, good luck with their continued service/support!

Velcom seems pretty old to me...as:
Registrar of Record: TUCOWS, INC.
Record last updated on 05-Dec-2002.
Record expires on 14-Jan-2005.
Record Created on 14-Jan-2000.
Domain servers in listed order:
NS1.VELCOM.COM 216.32.208.126
NS2.VELCOM.COM 216.32.208.88
However, as other people stated already, i never heard of them. They might be in the hosting bussines for years, months or even weeks.
Sorry to read that you had problems with them - and let me wish you all the good luck with your new host. ;)

They are hosting from 2002 according to your CR, they also should fix those errors.

Velcom is owned by a huge movie AVS company. They have support reps available for the AVS 24/7, but I doubt those reps have access to velcom servers or know anything about administrating servers. My opinion would be to find someone else that does hosting full time and not as something on the side.

Thank you for all your comments and researching...:-) Well, I have made an account with http://www.wwm.net and they are phantastic in what refers to helping me - in just one day I got more e-mails from them, then from velcom in two months... by the way, after the offtime of eight hours yesterday, velcom has still not answered to my e-mails (nor will they ever, because the same has happened every week in those two months and they never explained anything)... I didn't cancel my account earlier because I have signed up until September (they only accept at least 3-months-payments), while with my new host I can pay monthly.
Anyway, thanks again for your interest!!
Regards,
Anaiss

Just remember to cancel it on time, some host has a policy where you need to cancel a few days ahead.
