http://www.easyspace.com/domains/newdotnet.html

according to this page, there are now lot of new extentions for sale. TLDs including .church , .shop , .sport , .xxx , .mp3 , .med , .club , ...

When would these be able to get registered ? I think some of them can be useful , for example :

www.nakedladies.xxx
www.the-beatles.mp3
www.migraine.med
www.vangogh.arts
www.catholicism.church

These are not "real" tld's. These are new.net tld's. You can get further info at http://new.net

I can't wait until the bring out the real .xxx extention and then force porn to use it. Sure would make blocking sites alot easier.

What gives those people the right to "claim" these TLD's?

Do they have any support from icann? Don't think so.

Pretty expensive too, $35 for a 1-year registration. Back to the old days?

Sorry, not interested in a TLD that is not supported by the internet community.

Worried about the kids dear... lol

Still True... xxx TLD will be great to block porn, but who will stop them from using other TLDs? It can be done at the registrar End only... report them and they block the domain... it would be great!

strangely enough, google gives 0 records for these TLDs. Not a single site they could find that ends with the *.church domain...

But these new TLDs would have their positive sides, like blocking porn

On the other hand, what if anyone wants to register for example www.girlthings.xxx for a scientific non-erotic related site about menstruation, or even worse, if anyone registers www.the-old-lady.xxx for a fan site of soccer club Juventus (who has "the olde lady" as nickname) ?

then you block 2 .xxx sites that have no pornographic content at all !
