akashik:
Years back I worked in an industrial laundry, sorting hospital linen (including theater sheets) for the washers. Anything you can squeeze out of a human body passed in front of me every day - all for minimum wage.
essexguy:
I used to work in a Post Room during my 3 month summer university break, and i absolutely hated it. I had to stuff envolopes 8 1/2 hours a day, 5 days a week.
tlp:
When I was a young lad...back in the early 70's.
I had the honor of working for $2.00 hour shovling Pig PooP....
Umbongo:
Peeling carrots on a 12 hour night shift after being told we would be packing vegitables. Soaking wet and shaking due to the water and cold weather and no gloves provided. My hands turned orange.
kingpcgeek:
When I was 16 I worked at my grandfather's marble (white rock) mill. I would have attach a bag to a fill spout, open a chute until 100 lbs of the rock were in the bag and then run the bag through a heavy duty sewing machine which would seal the bag. The the bag was stacked on a pallet until they were about 30 bags high. The only cool part was then driving the fork lift to move the filled pallet to start the process all over. By the way this was in the middle of the desert outside of Tucson Arizona during the summer.
thedavid:
My worst was working at a supermarket during highschool. I was a 'bag boy', and that means I got all of the worst jobs they could find for us to do in the store - including cleaning the bathrooms. Cleaning public bathrooms is horrible - people are soooo gross..
Joe Bonanno:
My job was to go around at 6:00AM jumping in trash cans to compact the trash so they wouldn't have to pick it up as often. My boss was a carney named "Gator." Needless to say, I didn't last too long. I don't even think I ever picked up my check.
pokerstore:
I worked at a slaughter house right off the kill floor for close to 6 months. We killed 700-800 cows a day.
jablunka
I used to be a Drain Cleanerfor various companies, ie Power rod (like dyno rod, Roto Rooter etc)
Ok stood on a ladder about 25 feet up, undoing an access plate on a 4" sewer pipe that fed the Chemical Bank in London, being new and naive i opened it up to find that 15 floors of backed up sewage pour onto me, could not jump or death was imminent so had to stay and take it, those were the days
