My new RHL 8.0 server is displaying strange characters when I'm accessing it through SSH. While the MAN pages are mostly in English, I'm getting a lot of "a"s with a caret on top of it, and January is spelled as Januari.

Does anyone know what might be causing this?

do a:

export LANG=en_US

and that will fix it.

You can also change that in /etc/sysconfig/i18n
