To be honest I don't think so. It's all outrageous claims from new companies offering 400 gigs of bandwidth for 50$ per month. There are always exceptions, but I think that this forum as well as the request forum both have some problems... :rolleyes:

I have been hosting for over a year now and I have seen a lot of crazy packages listed on here. If these companies are making sales then they are definetly overselling. I decided to start offering a reseller package for a new server I purchased at RS and it seems to me that people are frightened off by the $29.95 400gb offers. When a legitimate company offers 50gb for $50 then the customers are wondering why this company is so high with their prices. Its a crazy game.. If you can get 3 or 4 sales through here and you provide good service then the word may get around and you may get some additional customers. Getting the 3 or 4 good ones will be the hard part...

People make sales trough WHT, I make sales through here, but I do not use the Advertising Forums.

Some hosts keep offering crazy packages in the Advertising Forums and I cannot compete to a Host that offer 500 GB for $20... I wonder what kind of profit this people make if customer used the 500 GB

We have gotten several through here, but even with a banner up it was minimal traffic to our site. There are more hosts than customers here. :)

I like these forums.. they're very helpful, but most of my bigger customers are referred from these forums from the advertising section

You asked if these forums work.

Answer - Yes it does. It does everything it was meant to do (and that does not include making sales). The purpose of this forum is for hosts to share information with each other. It is not meant for advertising your business.

Well BisonSt I dont know if you noticed or not but there is an advertising section in these forums..

People come to WHT for a myriad of reasons, as a result of that I think WHT has become many thing to a lot of different people. Sales, and information sharing between Hosts are but two benefits of WHT, I'm sure there are a lot more.

I have beem here sine Matt owned this board and I can tell you that the overall purpose of this board has never been advertising.

Perhaps not for you BisonSt, I'm sure advertising is the purpose for many others though....

I agree about how it was but the times they are a changing. I have learned a lot from this forum and with the exception of the advertising forum, it is all good...

If you rely on WHT for sales, your going to be out of business soon.

I think you all missed the topic. :) I was asking if anyone made sales through the Shared forum, and after a few posts people sort of ignored that fact. I've been here awhile and realize that there's an invaluable source of information, I was just looking at the latter forums. :)

The topic title was "Does this forum work?" It seems you have many valid responses on that topic.

Perhaps if you named the topic "Sales from the Shared Hosting Forums" the responses would have been more to your liking?

You can make some Dedicated sales here, but shared webhosting has some outrageous offers as stated above.
