Does anyone know if RackShack.net's "unlimited bandwidth" virtual hosting plan is really unlimited?

I have a 100 GB/month site that I'd like to host for $30 per month. :) Would they kick me out if I tried to do that?

There is no such thing as unlimited.

They would probably boot a 30gb/month site, never mind a 100GB/month site.

You cant get water out of stones or something like that ;)

Nicholas Brown: Do you realize that RackShack is the same company that sells 175 GB of bandwidth for $100 per month? Because of that, I would think that they would accept a 30 GB per month site on their $30 plan. Then again, a high bandwidth site can eat up a lot of CPU time on a shared server, even if it's just static files...

I'm just trying to figure out how far I can go, i.e. how much bandwidth can I cram onto rackshack.net's $30 plan before they decide to boot me. Does anyone have ideas? Has anyone looked over their TOS/AUP in detail for loopholes, etc.? Has anyone asked RackShack directly about their unlimited bandwidth deal?

Please state facts that pertain directly to this situation, not generic quotes that I have already heard.

Yes, I do. But how many people do you think actually use 175GB of transfer a month?

And if your paying $30 a month and use 100GB and someone is paying $99 and using 100-175, do you really think the math works?

Anyways, Im not getting involved in a silly argument - but in my opinion, your not gonna get 100gb of transfer for $30 a month. If they pay $4 per gb, the transfer would cost them $40 alone :)

Send rackshack an email and you will know the answer.

By the way, I would advise you to get a raq from them and all your problems are solved !

RackShack accounts operate on shared resources. Excessive use or abuse of these shared network resources by one customer may have a negative impact on all other customers. Misuse of network resources in a manner which impairs network performance is prohibited by this policy and may result in termination of your account.

You are prohibited from excessive consumption of resources, including CPU time, memory, disk space and session time. You may not use resource-intensive programs which negatively impact other customers or the performances of RackShack systems or networks. RackShack reserves the right to terminate or limit such activities.

don't you think if your site use 100 gb traffic will put load on server. speically on rack server. so they may kick you out even if they say they will give you 100 GB on unlimited plan.

So also ask them this point and also ask them how much accounts they keep on one rack and what amount of processor usage is allowed at any time.
