In order to transfer your domain name onto our service
you must contact the current host and ask them to amend
the nameservers for your domain as follows:

Primary Nameserver: ns1.donhost.co.uk (62.232.63.121)
Secondary Nameserver: ns2.donhost.co.uk (195.10.228.132)

I got this email from a hosting service that I want to use. Now my problem is that I registered the site using the namezero plus services, and I do not know if they will let me do that. I am asking if anyone knows if they will or not.

I went to Namezero Plus's website, and it says this:

"Get your own Web Address now with the complete Namezero Plus Domain Name package of services. Your Namezero domain lets you instantly point your domain to any Web site on the Internet ..."

This means that you will be able replace the old server names with the two you need. Just go to Namezero's site and figure out how, or ask your former host to do it.

but that would just redirect it to those. I need them to change something so that the ftp.trippinchicken.com and mail.trippinchicken.com works...

Then you will need to send an email to namezero's customer support and ask them to change your DNS.

I think they will have to change it for you. Cause you are the owner, you have the right to do anything with your domain. :D

but do I? because namezero is kinda weird, it only cost 15 bucks to register the domain...

if you want to get full control of your domain, you should transfer your domain to http://registrar.godaddy.com/ it is very cheap $8.95 a year. I use to have a domain at namezero, but it takes them very long time to update my DNS or change my whois information. But for Godaddy, you can change it instant with your own control panel.

well I already know who I am transphering it to, because I paid 100 bucks to do it :-). But you're telling me that namezero CAN do what I need to do right? (even if it takes a while)

Wassercrats, from what I've come to understand of namezero (which isn't that much as it is somewhat confusing and they are slow to do anything which confuses people even more), that quote you mentioned means that you can set URL forwarding (similar to http://mydomain.com's services). It doesn't mean you can change nameservers.

Namezero is an odd bird. There is always a good amount of discussion about them at http://www.freewebspace.net/forums and I thought that changing from the regular namezero service to the namezero plus service (a paid service), you'd get the ability to change nameservers.

What confused everyone there was that after they paid to upgrade, nothing happened for months. They were extremely slow with actually upgrading people and even then people weren't entirely certain what the upgrade allowed them to do.

I realize this isn't helpful, but I thought I'd mention part of the reasons for the confusion that I've read elsewhere. I gave up trying to figure it out a long time ago.

I have 7 domains with them. Very happy with their service and its such a great price.

I had a personal domain name from netzero which I pretty much didn't use. When it expired they offered to upgrade it to plus for $10 or so which I did. They did change the registration info at netsol so that I am the owner (admin contact). Unfortunately, they create an account with a password at netsol but don't give you the password. I do receive e-mail sent to the admin contact e-mail address. I figure the easiest way to get control of the domain name fully is to transfer it to another registrar. Just haven't gotten around to doing that yet.

The alternative would be to call netsol and see if you can ge the password changed. Good luck with that.

I used ename company to register my domain name. They got a good review on some website (though a bad company got an even better review), but they were recommended on another website too. They charge about $16.00 per month and let you change your DNS. I never heard of the term nameserver though.
