Errr... this barely qualifies for the lounge forum. I won't ask.

Well, you know what they say about chicken. If you ever eat something rather exotic, it has to taste like either chicken or peanuts. Crocodile apparently tastes like chicken, bogong moths taste like peanuts.

Rats and snakes may taste like chicken too. I would assume most birds taste like chicken. About the only strange meat I can think of that doesn't taste like chicken is kangaroo. It tastes like corned beef.

1. There was an article in my local rag a few days back about an intrepid food eater in Guangzhou Province in China who sampled the local fare - rats. He said : "It doesn't taste like chicken, it doesn't taste like anything....... It just tastes like rat." :stickout

2. What about venison? I believe venison doesn't taste like chicken.....

I haven't heard anything about venison. But I wouldn't be surprised if the only thing that tastes remotely close to chicken is, well, chicken. It's just one of those things on cooking shows though - chicken flavour seems to be the default for meats.

Dare I mention that a particular meat that "gets under one's skin" apparently tastes like chicken also? :puke: I don't dare to think where I ever heard that one.
