Do enom, godaddy etc. get the same yearly registration fee (8.95 or whatever) for all of the domains registered by them, whether it is google.com or thisisjustanotherdomain.com?

Yes,

For com/net/org REGISTRATIONS they each charge the same ammount no matter how long the domain is (or short).

Some dumb registrars (and i see verisign has done this) have started charging more money for premium domain names registration in wierd tlds.

I think .cd and .tv are doing this.

Not sure.

Hope this helps.

they are not charging more, the registries for those TLDs have decided to charge more for them.

.WS is charging 50K for a one letter domain.

I need to clarify my question. Is the charge the same no matter how valuable the name has become? Or do they start negotiating the price?

The charge is the same, no matter how valuable. Once it is registered, the person/company that registered it "owns" the domain name.

For some registrar to then say "I'm sorry, since you make $1mil a month, we're going to charge you $50,000 to register your name this year" would be extortion. Besides that, the company would then just transfer the name to a new registrar.

It doesn't matter if the name is loan.com or jsoeiuidjcn.com, the registration fee is the same assuming you're using the same registrar.

However, different registrars charge different prices. That is, say you found that YourBusinessName.com was available for registration. You can register it at NameCheap.com for $8.88 or NetworkSolutions.com for $35.00. It's the same name with the same usefulness (probably more useful at NameCheap)... which would you choose?

Most are like this yes.

But there are a few registrations of weird extensions that have different pricing for premium domains.

www.tv is one of them I believe.

www.cd it too, i htink.
