View Full Version : FDCServers Network Issue?
CCorderoR 08-05-2003, 07:51 AM Hi:
It seems that FDC Servers Network is down, can someone verify that? I've done a traceroute, and the issue seems to be on the entry router of FDC Servers Network. I'm on Yipes.
Regards,
Carlos
OSW - Chris 08-05-2003, 07:54 AM Same issue here.
Box dropped offline about five minutes ago.
Whats the IP of the entry router?
IGobyTerry 08-05-2003, 07:55 AM Are they maybe switching to BGP 4 now they have XO in the mix?
CCorderoR 08-05-2003, 07:57 AM BGP4 was only a paid option, and the stated no downtime would happen for the consumer who didn't want to pay for bgp4.
We will wait :)
Regards,
Carlos
AMJones 08-05-2003, 07:57 AM Can't seem to reach FDC via Yipes or Cogent here, since around 6:40 CT.
OSW - Chris 08-05-2003, 07:58 AM XO isn't due for a few days yet, and you have to upgrade to be put on it, so probably its not on the same router?
If that is the case however, I'd have expected an email :<
OSW - Chris 08-05-2003, 07:58 AM Power failure?
CCorderoR 08-05-2003, 08:01 AM Is someone near them to make a call?
I'm from Spain, and a call is expensive... but i'll call them if in around half a hour we don't know anything.
OSW - Chris 08-05-2003, 08:13 AM You have there number?
AMJones 08-05-2003, 08:17 AM Back up, roughly.. 'now'
OSW - Chris 08-05-2003, 08:35 AM Anyone hear of what caused the outage?
mattschinkel 08-05-2003, 09:21 AM I have servers at RS and FDC, here are some stats for everyone as of today:
RackShack:
From: June 19, 2003 09:17:00 AM
Till: August 5, 2003 08:39:00 AM
Total Minutes So Far: 67642 minutes
Network Downtime (minutes): 8 minutes
Network Uptime (%): 99.9882 %
FDC:
From: July 22, 2003 10:06:00 PM
Till: August 5, 2003 08:39:00 AM
Total Minutes So Far: 19353 minutes
Network Downtime (minutes): 90 minutes
Network Uptime (%): 99.535 %
I have a script running on each server to check if their own network is up (checks every minute). None of these stats include server uptime/downtime. I was unable to create a working server uptime script, only a network uptime script.
Andrej 08-05-2003, 04:56 PM From their forum:
Our Yipes feed is currently experiencing minor packet loss problem which is attributed to a network problem between Yipes&Williams. They are aware of the issue and they are working on the problem
nickn 08-05-2003, 05:33 PM They were having packet loss before hand, and since they have more than one provider, this is interesting :)

From what i understand its
$99 / monthly for only YIpes
$150 for Yipes/Cogent/XO Mixed, but most of their customers are on Yipes only as of now :D

:)
mattschinkel 08-05-2003, 09:13 PM with this... would we have 100% network uptime?
Andrej 08-05-2003, 09:33 PM Most likely unless all 3 lines go down which is against the odds.
nycorp.net 08-05-2003, 11:36 PM have they stated an exact date when xo will be available?
AMJones 08-06-2003, 02:11 AM Most likely unless all 3 lines go down which is against the odds. This isn't a comment on FDC in particular -- but there can be other reasons for network downtime. Failed routers, misconfigurations, etc. ;)
