I'm looking for a new host for my site, something cheap and reliable. I've been reading the topics on the forum about certain hosts that have caught my attention on other sites. I came here to search for information on http://www.mysitespace.com/ since it seemed pretty good and I had a pretty good feeling about the host, though I'm still searching for the sites TOS I can't seem to find it.

Anyhow, as I searched here for mysitespace.com, I only found two thread with anything about it and they were from the owner of the site itself I believe. I was wondering if anyone knows of them or is being hosted with them and can share experiences.

I also stumbled upon http://www.p4host.com through my tagboard service and it just sounded too good to be true, so I searched about it and...well saw a couple threads that worried me...like the owner being banned, but I also saw quite a bit of praises which seem legit.

I can't decide what to do, any input on these would be great. If you know of any other hosts with inexpensive plans please let me know.

EDIT:I had the wrong link for the second host I found...

If you are worried, move on and expand your list. Here is a list to start with. The pricing may be higher than your existing choice, but I suspect the service is better with any of the following:

www.alwayswebhosting.com Linux OS - Used before
www.atjeu.com
www.datapipe.com
www.dathorn.com
www.dixiesys.com
www.effectonline.com
www.fluidhosting.com

intellec suggested some great hosts. Many of the listed companies have great reputations at providing good service.

With the exception of that first host, that is one of the better lists I've seen.

You can't go wrong with any of the others....

I also came across www.mysitespace.com in my search for a budget host (<$5) and it seems to be good from what I've read on other sites. But I also couldn't find a TOS on their site. However, it seems during sign-up before you finalize it, the TOS is presented to you ( http://www.mysitespace.com/protos.asp ).

So has anyone here used this host before I take the plunge?

Ah no wonder, I was still searching for the TOS. Thanks for the link.

I'm still trying to find if any info on this host on this forum and nothing so far  . I'm in between hostmatix.com and mysitespace.com ...I need something inexpensive to go with my student budget lol.

I, along with an untold number of other mysitespace.com customers went through at least 5 DAYS (& counting for some customers according to forum posts) of down time reportedly due to a Denial of Service attack on their servers. During this time, they shut down their "Live Chat" support, posted repeated Status Updates that indicated that either the problem was fixed or would be fixed "soon", and were almost completely non-responsive to tech support emails (according to member posts and my own experience). As bad as all of that was, those of us that complained have been stonewalled, had our posts censored in the forum, and now I find that I am locked out of the forum as well as my site (ALL WITHOUT ANY NOTICE!). My emails to their "Sales" department describing the problems they were inflicting on their customers and asking for SOMEONE to tell us what was going on received a blatantly insulting response and said to send them a list of my sites and they would be glad to process a refund (although I had not requested one). The next thing I know (an hour or so later), I find they locked me out of the forum and then they locked me out of my site. Their: a) seeming lack of any kind of effective damage control (both operationally and from a customer relations perspective), b) incredible arrogance and c) an attitude that takes their customers for granted lead me to recommend avoiding mysitespace.com for your web hosting needs.

I just don't understand this attititude of a host. I have seen at least two previous hosts operate this same way. Do 90% of hosting businesses know nothing about customer support.

When will we as hosting companies realise that while our server resources are important, that our number 1 resource is our customers. Our server resources are our number 2 resource. When the server becomes more important than the customer, guess where the customer goes? Yep....elsewhere.

I've been with AvidNewMedia hosting (as a reseller) since June of this year. I'm quite satisfied with my service and it was well worth what I paid for it (although their prices are lower now :( ). There has been very little downtime, and when there is downtime, it's usually just for a few minutes, and isn't frequent at all. Support is also quite good, as most of my issues have been resolved in minutes.

Yeah, so my personal recommendation would be for AivdNewMedia. I'd recommend you stay away from Verio, and Interkey (my previous hosts). Verio is good for hosting, but has bad support. Interkey is just plain horrible (downtime, support, etc).

After doing a lot of research, I ended up with ThinkHost.com - I would recommend a look for anyone searching for a WebHost.

ONLY praise when you've been with them over few months and an URL to your website will validate this praise. :)
