Hey.

I have ZERO knowledge in server administration, or anything related.

What books do you recommend i should buy.

Thanks!

I'm in the same boat as you are! Are you using Win2k or Linux/RaQ? I got a RaQ server from Rackshack and the people at WHT have been EXTREMELY helpful with any questions- especially Chicken!

Thanks WHT members!

What OS are you looking to learn about? There are some great books for each.

Well I'm just reading it now, but "Securing and Optimizing Linux Red Had edition" seems like a great book for setting up and securing a RH box. There is an older version available in PDF format for RH 6.1 and 6.2. I believe a new version just came our for RH 7.x

You can get more info on it from www.openna.com

Hello,

go to the book store (B&N) and grab evey linux book on the shelf. Sit in the corner for a few hours thumbing through them. Pick the books that speak to you. Write down the ISBN # and Title/Author, put the books back on the shelf and go home and order them online from Amazon. Don't forget to order your Red Hat CD also and play play play.... Break.. Fix.. Break... Fix...

It's getting a little off topic, but you might want to check out www.bookpool.com instead of Amazon. I've found them to be much cheaper than Amazon for geek books.

Well first you have to learn linux before you administrate it.So buy a book called Running Linux by Oreilly(oreilly.com) its the best book out there. And then you can buy Essential System Administration by oreilly also.
