Hey all,
You've probably seen some of my posts as I try to find a decent PostgreSQL host. Well, I looked at hub.org once and thought they were too expensive. Then I looked again and realized the prices were in Canadian dollars :stickout .

Feeling that the actual prices are much more reasonable, this leads to my next question:

Anybody ever used 'em? Whaddaya think? Specifically, the web site indicates that they have a lot of technical info, and will pretty much install whatever you need. Did they seem to know what they're doing?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Well, as for the .org address, they seem to be in some way connected with the PostgreSQL maintainers. On the PostgreSQL.org site, it says that a certain percentage of the hosting fees go back into PostgreSQL development.

Presumably hub.org exists to make money, however ...

- Chris

PS - So, should I assume that nobody here has any experience with them?

I don't recall seeing the name before (and search turned up nothing). :(

I don't know that the TLD means a lot anymore.

.COM used to be for commercial enterprises, now you can find personal web pages with the .com extension.

.NET used to be for networking infrastructure groups, now it is used by busineses almost as much as .com

.ORG used to be for organizations (non-profit or not) and professionals, service firms and such, now it's used for anything.

Country TLD's were originally for entities within that country. With a few exceptions this is no longer true.

TLD's have just become another part of the name and with few exceptions lost most of the distinctive meaning they were originally intended to convey.
