This is not a traditional WHT offer where someone requests a very specific person/position. Instead this is an offer to solicit someone who, like myself, has been lurking to jump into web hosting or maybe you have thought of a different/better idea but might need a little nudge from someone.
While I am open to ideas, I do have one specific thing I have already decided is part of my plan. It is using a full version Windows server from Rack Shack. (These should be available on the next 2 weeks or less.) At this point, I can only afford one box and that is the box I want - period.
You may ask what I bring to the table. First, I am a mature (40+) adult that is married and stable with full-time employment. I am not however rich so I need to make this count.
I am an MCSE and have extensive Windows Server knowledge in production network and can manage the server very well. While skilled as an MCSE, I am not a coder so PHP and MySQL is foreign to myself. (I can learn if needed.)
While I am not very good making graphics, I am capable making HTML webpages using notepad or FrontPage. I also can make a pretty good technical how-to document that rivals any technical writer or book commercially produced.
I also can do streaming media using the Windows Media Server and have created on demand video training available for my previous company.
As you can see from the website in my SIG, I am into network monitoring and management and have provided training to other network and systems engineers.
I know I have more to offer but this isn't going to be an all enclusive resume. Rather it is a starting point of who I am.
So who would I be willing to work with? Well, I would never close the door on anyone just becuase you are young or old or never done anything else online before. If you want to do hosting, what would be different than the other 200 million WHT companies with a server or reseller account?
Maybe you have a niche idea that could be successful. What do you want to do and do better than the next guy? Tell me your ideas...
And if you are a webhost already, don't hesitate to talk to me. I am not just looking for someone new with a new idea. What I want is a good oppertunity with the right person. That might just be you...
