View Full Version : Clientexec? What do you think about it?
Dedicatedone 08-01-2003, 10:12 PM Hey, I've heard about them before and I just saw one of their banners so I thought I'd post here and see what people have to say about it.
Also, does it have all the features Modernbill has? I have modernbill leased license right now but the only thing is that I can't use it to add gamehosting clients because it requires a domain to sign up which really bothers me. Would it be the same problem with clientexec? Or would I be able to add gamehosting clients in the database?
Thanks for your help and time.
cmtusa 08-01-2003, 10:24 PM Actually, I just came here to rave about Alberto and his product (Clientexec). I had heard (in this forum actually) that he was very helpful, but I must say the support is incredible. We were stumped, and he basically put the script into our existing page for us. The product is great as well. Does everything we need . . . not to mention a smooth, clean, and professional interface. Can't say enough about this guy and his product.
A+
Odd Fact 08-01-2003, 10:48 PM I agree with cmtusa. I have recently switched from phpManager to clientexec. Alberto has been very helpful in helping setup up the system. They also have a nice forum started with members that are postive and helpful.
cmtusa 08-01-2003, 11:42 PM Yes . . . . I almost forgot. . . the forum is wonderful. A fellow host (if you can believe that) from the forum actually had me e-mail him my html, and he helped me edit a portion of my page. Just incredible!
Dedicatedone 08-02-2003, 09:24 AM Hmmm ... this sounds really nice. But can it do what I'm looking for? With adding the game hosting clients into my data base? That's the main thing I'm after.
Alberto 08-02-2003, 11:43 AM At the moment ClientExec also requires that you enter a domain for the signup script, but not if you want to enter customers manually. The invoicing module will allow you to create invoices manually however you wish.
Dedicatedone 08-02-2003, 01:50 PM will it accept a supdomain of my site? If it does than that's more than perfect because I'll be giving free webhosting with gamehosting.
Alberto 08-02-2003, 08:11 PM With some modifications to the signup script I don't see a problem with that. Though it doesn't do that out of the box
mrl14 08-02-2003, 10:01 PM Are you looking to accept ONLY subdomains or both subdomains and regular domains.
bonnmac 08-03-2003, 07:08 AM We've been using CE since beta stages and I've got to say it just keeps getting better. It doesn't do everything that MB does but it's coming closer. And it's less bulky and easier to use.
It will allow signups with subdomains.
JustinH 08-03-2003, 01:42 PM I've been watching it closely. I'm waiting a bit to see some needed features, but I'm not too far away from purchasing it.
WII-Aaron 08-03-2003, 01:45 PM I sent an e-mail to Alberto last night with a couple questions. I'm waiting for a response. I may go with it over Modernbill.

perlchild 08-03-2003, 07:01 PM Where would one find this wonderful product to evaluate? Google cannot seem to make heads or tails out of client exec hosting automation(and a few other queries I tried)
JustinH 08-03-2003, 07:05 PM www.clientexec.com
takiman 08-04-2003, 12:35 AM I have been very happy with ClientExec. Alberto was very nice helping me install the software when I first purchased it. I had to modify it though so that the order form would not require a domain name.

Now why did 1) google didn't suggest that
2) didn't I think of that?

nycorp.net 08-05-2003, 11:58 PM haha...
what did you search for on google? lots of results there
Senthu@BM 08-06-2003, 01:14 AM I highly Recommend CE. Just started to using it and its an Amazing Client Management tool. CE got a built in ticket system too :)
indyjon 08-07-2003, 02:59 PM I'll jump on and say that I have been using CE since Janurary.... I am very happy with it. Alberto busted his rump to get the Authnet module working.
Hosting Gate 08-07-2003, 03:54 PM Actually , CE is the best billing software we used since we left phpmanager.. we highly recommend it and Alberto is a very nice guy .
nycorp.net 08-07-2003, 06:39 PM but it lacks some key features of modernbill ...although modernbill has good features
i like the CE demo b/c its really straightforward and simple though
indyjon 08-07-2003, 08:56 PM Thankfully, CE is not like Modernbill. The majority of us could do without the bloat.
One of my servers is housed at a provider that uses modernbill.... they are replacing it with perlbill.
The CE forum has a lot of Modernbill refugees.
I repeat CE is not Modernbill..... the day CE goes in that direction is the day I move to Perlbill. My chief complaint about perlbill is that it is ... well... written in perl.

client exec hosting automation
got a deluge of "backup exec" that drowned out clientexec much to my surprise

If you search "clientexec" it's on the top. :)
With the recent rave, I'm giving CE a try as I just purchased it 2 days ago. So far, installation has gone easy with a few bumps which Alberto fixed personally. :D
~Karen~ 08-10-2003, 12:46 AM I have been using client exec for a while and I love it. The features are awesome and the plans that are planned for upcoming versions will be great as well.
You can't go wrong with CE or with the support that goes along with it.

Specifically, can you mention what features CE is missing that MB has?
Thanks!
htremblay 08-13-2003, 12:57 PM Hello,
Is it possible to translate CE in french? (maybe by creating a french template)
And can it be installed on freebsd?

At the moment CE doesn't have any language files, but yes it is customizable! I do believe if you wanted, you could create your own template written in french.
And to answer your other question,
ClientExec runs on any server that has at least PHP 4.1x as well as MySQL 3.2.3.49 or higher. The ionCube loader is also required.
so as long as your server supports php 4.1x, mysql 3.2.3.49 or higher, and ioncube loader, it should work fine :)
htremblay 08-14-2003, 08:09 AM Thanks for the answer.
Is there a demo version? I check on the website, without result.
Here's the online demo:
http://demo.clientexec.com
From playing with the demo it seems, I may be wrong, that ClientExec stores credit card information on the server for recurring billing. Any confirmation on that? I really don't like storing credit card information on a server.

Odd Fact 08-14-2003, 10:57 AM Yes you can find it here http://www.clientexec.com/downloads/client...ec_trial.tar.gz
DayGlo 08-14-2003, 11:18 AM Hey, we switched to Clientexec from Modern Bill last week and much happier.
Try the demo, it's great :)
indyjon 08-14-2003, 11:31 AM Yes, you may store cc numbers on your server for AN.
They are encrypted. The admin can encrypt/decrypt them by using a passphrase that is NOT stored on the server.

Well it does and it doesn't. It has language files on a per theme basis.

Personally I don't like to store credit card information on a server even if it's encrypted. just my 2 $s.
(From reading the Authorize.net docs, recurring billing can be achieved by storing a transaction/processing number instead. -> A better/safer alternative.)
