bekah 08-01-2003, 09:25 PM Does anybody use them? Anybody heard anything about them?
I suppose i should have asked and then signed up for the service, but i wanted to take advantage of that special offer. :D
So far so good, the servers are very fast and I havent had any problems..
But theire prices and plans just seem too good to be true. I hope not though.
Dedicatedone 08-01-2003, 09:49 PM Which plan did you go with?
blue27 08-01-2003, 10:01 PM Since your domain name hasn't even propagated yet it would be difficult for you to really determine if they are a quality host or not. Their prices do seem to good to be true. Why don't you come back in a few months and let us know if they are.
I wonder if Inverse Flow allows you to remove the copyright notice from the bottom of their software like Ace-Host did.
Off topic, but I'm just curious.

Loads fine for me.
Good luck with your new host bekah..
I took a look at the special plan and just thought oh..... my..... god.....
those are some pretty darn low prices, I hope everything works out for you though.
WorldNetHost 08-02-2003, 12:45 AM Wow 2.99 for 2gb disk space and 60gb transfer. I wonder how they make any money if they are not over selling.
Well good luck with your new host, I hope it works out for you.
Regards,
traube 08-02-2003, 02:19 AM Hey they have really good deals, make me feel want to sign up for one... but the weird thing is they don't have a TOS...
2.0GB space 60GB Bandwidth for $2.99
They'll be gone in a week =) The thread starter is probably the person running the site.
OOO wait, if you get their Business 3GB space / 80GB bandwidth plan it's only $7.99 a month!
Way to cheap. I don't think they can actually earn some money from their biz. Anyway, good luck with your new hosting. You'll need it.

actually i'm not i'm only 17 i don't even know how to start a webhosting site
Thanks everybody. It's a 30-day money back guarantee so i have nothing to lose. :D
bekah 08-02-2003, 09:49 AM Oops i meant to quote RobG.. i'm new here, just getting the hang of things.
desman 08-02-2003, 10:15 AM Any site that has a right click alert window copyright = small or just starting up... Not baging them but any developer knows how to see the code (html) anyway... good luck to them, I hope they do well
AmishHost 08-02-2003, 10:39 AM They traceroute to rackshack... So they have to be paying at least $99 a month for a server... say they have a 60 gig hdd in there, with rackshack's 700 gig bandwidth...
say everyone gets their 2.99 special (2 gigs of space, 60 gig bandwidth..)
that means they can have roughly 25 accounts on the server (since all 60 gigs on their hdd isnt usable)... that would mean they make 75 bucks on a server that costs them $99... not to mention that 25 accounts would use 1500 gigs bandwidth...
I would stay away from them, they won't be around long...
bekah 08-02-2003, 11:10 AM well I pay 5.99/month because I decided to go with the monthly plan, so therefore if they turn out to suck, i won't be out of too much money.
And actually they probably do make their money back, considering that there's a $10 activation fee, and most people are probably going to go with a monthly plan since the company is new which means they're paying at least $5.00 a month  Because it costs more if you go with a montly plan.. and who signs up for 1 year with a new company?
I do think however thay they are/will oversell their accounts. Sooner or later they will go, as they do earn only a very small fee, which is not enough to survive. Support tech and other staff? I don't think so. I won't go with them. :D
bekah 08-02-2003, 12:16 PM well i ran across someone else who is hosted by them and they're satisfied with their service. I still have a free month with my other host, so if they mess up i'll cancel and go back to where i was. :D
I'll let you guys know how it goes though.

Hi,
How do you know it's Rackshack? They told me they are not resellers and own their own servers.
thedavid 08-02-2003, 04:20 PM Because of their IP address. It shows up in the arin whois as:
Search results for: 66.98.130.65
OrgName: Everyones Internet, Inc.
OrgID: EVRY
Address: 2600 Southwest Frwy., Suite 500
City: Houston
StateProv: TX
PostalCode: 77098
Country: US
IE, rackshack.

traube 08-02-2003, 04:35 PM me: So you are not a reseller of another hosting company?
ace-host: no, but we have resellers selling our hosting.
this is copy-paste from one of the support tickets.
sorry i'm not expert in hosting thingy, but when i ask if a company is a reseller of another company that means if they use Rackshack, ServerBeach...etc? right?
just hope i was mistaken and they r not lying to me.
blue27 08-02-2003, 04:37 PM They can lease a server from Rack Shack. That would mean they are not a reseller.

They're not lying to you at all - if you lease dedicated servers somewhere or colo somewhere, it's not the same as being a reseller as we currently refer to them as.

blue27 08-02-2003, 04:49 PM I doubt that anyone will find too many March threads considering you didn't register your domain until March 29.
The fact that you "laugh" at the people on this forum will surely be a good selling point.

We offer month to month payment options for those who are skeptical. After you are with us for a few months, you can upgrade to a yearly payment plan.
We will no longer reply to these type of threads. We respect all the other hosting companys on here and do not wish to engage in any type of arguement. Thanks for everyones interest in our company.
bekah 08-02-2003, 07:11 PM i didnt make this thread for anyone to bash ace-host.net i was just curious if anyone had heard about them.
Either way i am pleased with my service so far, i'll let ya'll know how it's going in a month.
AmishHost 08-02-2003, 07:31 PM not to spark up any arguments, but I find that hosts like this tend to overpack their servers, it is the only way they can profit, by having 500 sites on a duron. Same as hosts that offer 'unlimited bandwidth"... they just pack on sites and all it takes is 1 CPU hungry site (IE: UBB) and the whole server goes down. Sure they may seem fast now, thats cause they only have a few clients. Wait 3 or 4 months down the road when there are 500 sites fighting over CPU and bandwidth, you'd wish you woulda went with a regular priced host, that isn't going to overload his servers... just my opinion...
Curtis H. 08-02-2003, 08:43 PM While the pricing/allowances are rediculous at this time, doesn't mean it will stay that way should they pick up more clients down the road. Many hosting providers offer cheap packages in the startup stage. (Better ones "lock" fees.)
Time will tell... (though I would not suggest anyone use them.)
alx1507 08-02-2003, 09:18 PM ok, im gonna put facts together, just so I can clear this up easier then in my head, ok...
they get 60 gigs, and they are giving out 2gigs for 35 bucks a year, they are paying 1200 bucks a year, If they got say 30 ppl to host that they would make roughly 1050 dollars plus they 10 bucks for setup fee from 30 ppl, wich is 300 dollars, so they are basicly making a 150 dollar profit yearly, That doesnt make sence, I hope the people who work there dont quit there day job.
bekah 08-02-2003, 10:42 PM well luckily i am locked into that rate.. :)
