Alright,
What is the best forum type for a webhosting business?

I currently help run a webhosting business (I make packages, and referals, etc..), and we are looking for a support forum +- a community.

Any suggestions? We arn't looking for the following;

** vBulletin
** Invisionboard
** phpBB
** Mercury Boar
** WoltBB

Please, do help me :). Thanks!

You might want to stress you ARE NOT looking at those options. Perhaps tell us why too so we have a better idea of what you want in a forum.

I'd suggest vBulletin, every professional host uses it. Most hosts that I talk to are either getting that or already have it.

Vbulletin or Invision Board are your best options. I would recommend Vbulletin #1.

I have worked with the top three on your list and liked them all. That being said we now use vBulletin.

Depends if you want to start off with a paid forum or not?
paid= vbulletin
free= phpbb or invisionboard.

There are many, many threads about this topic here. Try a few searches and see if you can locate some.
Good Luck.

Just because it appears it may have been overlooked, let me quote from the original post.Originally posted by frosted

. . . . .Although, it could possibly been worded different, it seems he is looking for 'alternatives' to these boards.

But, then again, maybe it is 'really' worded wrong and he is looking for suggestions from his list.

Maybe the thread starter can stop back and clarify?

Invision Board by far. It's free (paid version also available), has a large community, very fast and stable.

Well, as an alternative, I believe Splatt forums come with PHPNuke now. I'm not sure how good it is however.

If you're considering ASP also, Snitz is a good forum.

vBulletin just seems to be the industry standard for professional companies. I like it because it's super customizable and probably has the most features. Invision is ok, but not as good. phpBB is just butt ugly.....

I always stop back at the topics I post at :).

I am planing on buying a vBulletin, sometime soon...and I want an alternative right now.

We have everything figured out now, and it's all set, until next month, when our liscense activates!

Thanks everyone.

http://tutorialforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51130 A nice list of available forums. If you can afford $260, go to Infopop.com and get a UBB. Otherwise, OpenBB and Phorum are nice. XMB is also up there.
