I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with http://bcentral.com for advertising. If so please tell me what services you used and the type of results you received. I'm not looking for any statistical analysis for the results, just your overall feeling whether it was worth it or not.
Thanks

Well, I personally run a forum and at the bottom of every page I have a linkexchange banner. Since I don't have anything to advertise, I gave the spot to the company I work for, JTAN. So far, there have not been any good results with well over 40,000 impressions.
Others may have better luck. We have gotten about 200+ clicks, but no orders saying they came from a linkexchange banner ad. At least that I know of.

Hello,
We tried using bCentral's pay services in the past and got an average of 0.3% click through... wich is horrible :)
this is mainly because their banners are displayed on any type of web site, wich is the worst way to advertise... Everyone knows that paying to advertise on a personal site (most free bcentral banners are on personnal sites) is like throwing cash out of the windows... and it is exactly what we did :)
I would not recommend using their services... instead find some computer magazine web sites, used forums, related web sites and ask them to advertise with them... they are often cheaper and get you a 5-10% clickthrough.
:) Good luck...
What does CPM mean? I understand about paying for impressions. But what about $38 CPM for a highly targeted demographic? CPM? I don't know.

CPM means per 1,000 impressions.
5% - 10% is extremely high and rarely possible, just ask around. Generally it's between 1%-4%.

In fact SysAdmin (nice name by the way), when targetting your advertising... for example advertising a web hosting company on a domain registrar... and having a GOOD banner (wich is REALLY important) will get you even higher than 10%. We experienced it when we temporarily partenered with a domain registrar for 2 weeks... our unique visitors jumped really high and it really worked...
Of course, such targetted advertising costs a lot :I
I run 5 affiliate programs through them. I set them up over a year ago, some two years ago... most of my affiliate programs have 100's of members, meaning 100's of sites put my banners on their websites to try to get people to my sites and buy my products.
I don't get a ton of sales from them, but I get tons of extra traffic from these members, and I have banners from Burstmedia that make me a few bucks.
