Hi all,

I've been researching reseller plans for the past month or so and since this board helped me a lot in reaching some conclusions, I will share my findings with you.

My requirements were (in order of importance):

1. Solid reputation of provider
2. Good support, including a forum
3. Ability to fully private-label my offerings (including name servers)
4. Ability to create and manage accounts
5. Pay-as-you-go, no pre-purchase requirements
6. Competitive pricing

I started with a long list of about 20 companies which has now been reduced to the following three:

• Ventures Online (http://www.venturesonline.com)
• Hosting Matters (http://www.hostmatters.com)
• Jaguar PC (http://www.jaguarpc.com)

All three meet my requirements, offer a rich feature set with their accounts and all use CPanel.
Pricewise, they all seem to be very close in the middle -of-the-road plans, with VO enjoying an advantage in the high-end plans. VO also stands out for the excellent online documentation.

One observation common to all three is that their Unit Cost for bandwidth is extremely low, between $0.6 and $0.7 per GB on some accounts, which is below cost if a user actually used all their quota. But in any case, it allows for nice, justifiable reseller markups.

BTW, I am not in any way associated with any of the above companies, neither have I personally used their services yet. These are just the conclusions of my research.

I am attaching a file which includes a small analysis of their hosting plans, prices, unit costs for transfer & storage, etc.

No offense, I think you are the best person who will know which Host provider suits your needs as a reseller.

By sitting on the fence, is not the way to go about it as a reseller but you have to experience it. Anyway, if you made a bad choice it's not a big loss financially to you and you can always dump them and look for another Host.

Even though others may highly recommend some Hosts , I believe as they say, "One man's food is another's poison" so what's good for them may not work for you.

just my views.

Hey, I just listed what my requirements were and what I found, hoping that it helps some people. My recommendations are not meant to be the reseller's gospel, you are free to do your own research.

Your comment, however, is totally off target. I didn't evaluate something abstract. Reseller plans have many characteristics that can be quantified, normalized and compared. So, based on certain constraints (requirements) I evaluated the reselling plans' quantifying parameters.

I also did some qualitative comparisons as well. All three hosts that I recommend have recently changed NOCs, Jaguar PC and VO left VDI for DI & Verio respectively, while Host Matters switched from Alabanza to Pwebtech I believe. This shows a company that strives to better their service (changing NOCs is not exactly the easiest thing in the world) and has vision and goals. Call me old-fashioned, but I consider this a plus.

I also visited their forums and read a lot of comments from users and resellers and I also saw their responses. They are not infallible but they do know how to handle situations.

Only thing I worry about is having enough time available to read and decipher Tim's answers if I ever ask a question.
