Hello all,

We are looking into a new dedicated server and are curious if people would recommend having RedHat 7.3 or RedHat 9.0 installed? We have a choice.

We have some experience with 7.3 but are not sure if we should just go with 9.0?

Any opinions out there?

I'd go with RH 9 if you have a choice. RH 7.3 support will be dropped at the end of the year. Not that RH 9 will last much longer, but anyway...

In our experience, RH 9 is a stable release, atleast as much as 7.3 if not more.

One thing to consider is Apache, which is 2.0.40 with RH 9. If you plan to use any control panels or other Apache-dependant sofware, check with your vendor if this newer version of Apache is supported. If not, you might have to downgrade your Apache to 1.3.x. series.

is this redhat 9 referring the enterprise version?or..

in order to configure a server, does it at least require a professional version?

mine is 35 dollar cheapest one, there is option to configure it as server, is that alright if i install that pic software as web server?

If any of the cp's come preinstalled with the 7.3 or 9.0 RH version..then Apache will usually work fine and be the supported version. Same goes for most other software used by the cp.
