GetYourHitS 07-30-2003, 09:10 PM depends on whether you can afford it or not :) crspyjohn 07-30-2003, 09:16 PM no on nocster duel xeon they let you chose a 73 scsi or a 120gb hd so which one? TheVoice 07-30-2003, 09:17 PM if you need the space go with ide otherwise go with the scsi. thedavid 07-30-2003, 09:29 PM IDE is a more cost effective solution, but for performance SCSI is best. Depends, really, on what you're targeting. If I had to reccomend one or the other, I'd reccomend IDE for your first 1-2 servers, then if you decided you want higher performance ones later you can use scsi for your next servers. Just an idea. -David Dragoon 07-30-2003, 10:26 PM This question has been asked and discussed on this forum numerous times. Perhaps you should try doing a search. crspyjohn 07-30-2003, 10:57 PM I have and i still wondering. Just want to make sure. Please dont post if you are going to tell me to search. JonL 07-31-2003, 01:51 AM What will you be using the server for? If you are going to be performing high I/O usage tasks, SCSI would definitely be the way to go. Just a note...the last time I asked Nocster, they said when you choose SCSI that it's pretty much a grab bag in terms of whether you get a 10K RPM or 7.2K RPM SCSI drive so you might want to press on them to give you a 10K RPM drive if you decide to go SCSI ;) Shazan 07-31-2003, 02:33 AM I believe all of their 73GB SCSI drives are 10K RPM... JonL 07-31-2003, 02:36 AM Originally posted by Shazan I believe all of their 73GB SCSI drives are 10K RPM... Hello Shazan, I don't have any experience with their SCSI hard drives because all the servers I have ordered through them have been IDE hard drives; however, I was told by Nocster support that the drives would either be 10K or 7.2K. |
