Anyone else got a broken NeoMail after DarkOrb upgraded it in the CPanel distro last night? I know a couple of people have got broken NeoMail installs now, one person has fixed it buy re-installed CGI.pm, but that hasn't worked for us. anyone got any ideas?

You would think that there would be some sort of Quality Assurance period before an update is rolled out.

All our webmail users now have broken images and phpmyadmin db dumps don't seem to be working correctly either now. Seems to load the server right down for a simple dump.

hehe, good thing I took out the cron job to update last week :)

I don't mean to rant on about this, but if I don't I'll explode.

For example, Plesk has a QA period of almost a couple months before they role anything out (updates, new products, etc..). Now, I don't think it's too much to ask for darkorb to spend just 1 hour checking if the update will inconvenience thousands of users around the world.

I think it's time to find a cpanel replacement. Since the same people are making NocSoft then I'm sure we can expect the same incompetence from that product as well.

It would be so nice to have a few problem free months of use out of cpanel. I guess that is too much to ask from them.

run /scripts/upcp

The new version of NeoMail needs suid perl - which DarkOrb obviously forgot to install first time round. But it works now.

Does anyone have a solution to the phpmyadmin problem. Many users are reporting not being able to access phpmyadmin. Their getting a 'wrong username/password' error.

I have come to the conclusion that cpanel/whm = ball ache.

I have had that error too regier. It stoped working today so im putting it down to the update since nothing really, could have changed it to stop it working.

Anyone have any idea? Got me

I just got my first complaint today, but I hadn't received the most recent update yet. I was still running stable_17 at the time. I have recently update to stable_19 and that doesn't seem to fix it. The strange thing is that it only happened on one of the servers.

Out of intrest who hosts/manages that server? which company?
Do you have iCQ?

regier

It's with VO. I have let them know, so chances are good they will have it fixed soon. I just happened to notice this post a bit before I had the problem pointed out to me so I figured I would see if anyone had a solution.

My ICQ is 92759467

Where have you heard this? what errors will be fixed?

I also wish they would fix that email bug. When you create a subdomain it shows it as a pop box :(
SO annoying

Hmm,

Now I have the neomail problem on one of my other servers. updating doesn't seem to fix it either. In the update script it gives this error

==> Installing....../tar: cpanel/base/neomail/neo-images: Cannot create symlink to `../neo-images/': File exists
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
-tar: cpanel/base/neo-images/images: Cannot create symlink to `.': File exists
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

KDAWebServices

All that error means is that it hasn't copied a couple of images over that are needed. But it still should have fixed the NeoMail problem if you let the update script run to completion.

I can now create a database and view it in phpmyadmin after last nights update.
However i have the problem of not being able to access the newly created database.

MySQL said: Access denied for user: etc..

When i tryed to create a table for the database.

Anyone else suffering from these "updates"?

I had a report of the same thing this morning. I would guess it is the recent bug that was introduced.

on My Server it solved 1/2 of this NeoMail-Problem ! When I create new Accounts or Access the WebMail of Users who did not used NeoMail since today (= I see: Welcome to NeoMail! It appears that this is your first time using NeoMail, so we need to gather .....) = its now OK  . But when I Access a WebMail of a User (also My Box) wo used WebMail since a Time/before we had this NeoMail-Update I get still the Error :bawling: !

Do you know how I can solve this Problem ? Please have a helping Hand ;) otherwise My Users will kill My at Monday *g* then we have now Vacation-Time !

PS: I just installed mod_gzip from the CPanel-Site and it function perfect, also JSP what I installed last Week (ok I did not had a Chance to test JSP then I have no Site who use this) !

If it is the missing image that you are refering to, do a
cp /usr/local/cpanel/base/neo-images/addaddress.gif /usr/local/cpanel/base/neomail/neo-images/addaddress.gif
That will move it to the right place.

Does anyone have a solution to the phpmyadmin problem. Many users are reporting not being able to access phpmyadmin. Their getting a 'wrong username/password' error.

The solution is pretty silly: Instead of http://mydomain.com/..., point to http://www.mydomain.com/...

This works for me -- no "www" = wrong username/password, with "www"=works fine.

Since it looks like CPanel developers read this thread, I want to mention 2 bugs:

1) After an update, any link to FormMail.cgi will not work ("You don't have permission to access /cgi-sys/FormMail.cgi on this server."). I have to remove it manually and to cp FormMail-clone.cgi to FormMail.cgi, so my clients can refer to it as descriped in the CPanel.

2) I think following affects only "iconic": The "Edit/Reset a Counter" function does not work due to an error at line 653-655 of the file /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/iconic/cgi/Counter/count.html.

653: <form target=code method="POST" action="http://<cpanel print="DOMAIN">
654:
655: /cgi-sys/countedit.cgi"> <left>

all this should be ONE line -- like below:

653: <form target=code method="POST" action="http://<cpanel print="DOMAIN">/cgi-sys/countedit.cgi"> <left>

Of course, any attempt to correct this will be overwritten by the next update, thus, the best would be to end the daily update with a script that removes FormMail.cgi with a copy of FormMail-clone.cgi, then removes the corrupt "count.html" and replaces it with a correct version from a safe place.

I hope that the CPanel Team corrects the master files and they make Neomail finally work (it is now almost a week now that we don't have web based email access).

I also notice that in all of my account that have unlimited pop accounts it is giving them an error that they can't create any more. I have to go in and specify a maximum number.

We encountered this as well. This has been fixed in Stable48. Just update to the latest build and you should be good to go.

Wow,

Thanks so much. I have been wishing for ever that they had a support forum, but I was never able to find it. They really should put a link to it from their main page. That is one url that will be going into my bookmark.

Anyone have a fix for the problem that has always existed in this NEOMAIL, which is IT WONT LOG YOU OUT?????!?!?!?!?!?

Gets tiring to go to /webmail/ and always get one account when you have 5-10 others!
