The title says it already.
I have a PHP binary at /usr/bin which comes as standard on a Raq4r.
How do i upgrade this to PHP4.06 without breaking anything. I wouldn't care if i couldn't control it anymore afterwards from the control panel but i need to upgrade it.
Thx

Compile from src.....

I recently compiled the latest version from source and had a few issues, but they were easily resolved.

Some of the libraries I needed were not in the default locations. After correcting this, the compilation and install went fine. I tried to compile PHP with the APC cache but could never get it to work properly.

Take a look at this for more info:

These instructions are for the Raq3. I installed many times php on a raq3. That's not the problem. The problem is with a Raq4r where php is already installed. I've tried it and it gives me errors. I checked an article about these errors at php.net but their description given does not apply to my machine because i do not have the apxs configured as described in the article.

see my post here http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17782

If the mods could move this thread to the other one? :)

Unfortunately, the software combines the threads and posts based on the *date* of the post, so combining the threads would produce a rather confusing thread (I've check the dates of all the posts in both threads).

Locking this one, please follow the thread posted above this message and comment there.
