What is a good host that has 99.9% uptime? I need one for my hosting company support site. They need to have cPanel or DirectAdmin. Anyone name some companys?

NOTE: We will have our server. We want to host our support / billing on a third party server so if my went down support and billing is still up.

www.httpme.com has a good rep here. Click the search button and look them up.

I know you didn't ask this here.. But I wanted to bring it up to you..

In your requests forum posts you've asked for 99.999% uptime with proof - also known as 5 9's. Basically, less than an hour a year. You're not realistically going to get that unless you pay a *lot* of money for website redundancy and fallover solutions. This means dynamic DNS, database replication (if you intend to use a database with it) as well as multiple points of presence.

The only thing that a host could, theorhetically provide would be a written SLA that would refund you money for downtime outside of the 5 9's.

Just food for thought.

There's a lot of good hosts here in WHT, but as someone wiser than me once said "There's no best host, there's only the best host for you" (or something similar ;) ). Some hosts here that have been shown to be very good are unitedhosting.co.uk, httpme.com, off the top of my head. I don't believe you'll get 5 9's from either, but reviews have shown them to be very good - for your purposes, I don' t think you could go wrong with either.

I find it refreshing that some newer hosts are actually doing the right thing by their customers and having an offsite emergency page. It's not to often companies think about these things however it shows you are willing to go the extra length for customer satisfaction.

Yup, I think some kind of off-network status page is absolutely paramount. Any sensible host will have this as part of their communication / disaster recovery policy.

Some hosts worth checking out:

http://www.httpme.com - If you need WHM also.
http://www.myacen.com
http://www.enhancedhost.com - Not sure if they do cPanel though, I am sure Gary will stop by :)

All the above hosts have been in the industry for several years and have a good reputation around WHT. Incidentally, they are all Aussie based :D

The most important thing when purchasing a hosting plan is to ask questions and do your research. If there is anything you are unclear about - ask :)

Some sites do have 99.999% uptime. As some datacenters like peer1 have 100% uptime for a while as i have seem some servers that are hosted there and had no downtime but reboots. I am not looking for a new CHEAP company but one that has a good record of uptime, support ect.

Thanks guys for the help. I am thinking of getting 2 diff accounts of 2 diff servers and haveing 2 backups incase not sure yet.

May I ask why you are only looking for a host using cpanel or Direct Admin ? There are many other control panels out there, and some of them are equal to and or grater than those 2 brands of control panel .

As for your uptime request, i recommend http://www.unitedhosting.co.uk . They are using the fast and reliable control panel: Ensim Pro, i've been with them for about 6 months now, and service has been great.

good luck!
