I have looked through the last 50 posts. I would like to open up a discussion on the differences between revecom and paypal. I have limited the discussion to these two companies as instabill seems to have a horrible record here, and im looking for options that dont require a merchant account. I understand now that PayPal has recurring billing. In particular which does best in these categories.


These are in reference in to applying hosting charges.

1. Ease of use for customer.
2. Ease of use for me.
3. How each company "looks" on a site as far as professionalism.
4. Cost
5. Ability to integrate with my site.
6. Other features I may not have considered.

I know there may be very short answers to this questions, but I would like a little more information in the "why" department. Thanks!

It's hard to compare two if you've only used one....

Yes I agree with AnIdiot, but I will put in that I have integrated PayPal fairly well with my site and have had no problems as of yet. I've been using them for about a year now. Everything seems to run very smoothly. My site is www.inoverse.com, you can put in a fake order to see how it works. And just so you know, after they go through and pay me on the PayPal page, it sends them back to a page of my site that I have specified. Works nicely.

hmmm not bad... but I really dont like how it makes you sign up for paypal.. Anyone with direct feedback on a comparison between revecom and paypal?

PayPal says they're workin on it:D

I use Revecom. It is similar to as Paypal was described above. They click through from a link on your site, that takes them to the Revecom (PaySystems) Secure Server, so they can enter all the needed info to make a payment. Then you can set it to link to any page you want back on your site. I have not used the others, but I have not had any problems with Revecom as of yet. And very important the customer does not have to sign up for anything in order to make a payment.

Paypal looks pretty good, and it would be a lot better if people didn't have to sign up to pay by creditcard. They are definitely worth considering.

I will add, however, the PayPal users can pay in several ways,which could be of benefit to both parties:

1. Credit card
2. PayPal balance transfer
3. By bank account

All of these payments, save echeck (takes 3-5 business days to clear, unless they use instant ach) are instant.

Adding some more credit cards would help a lot.
The two cards you deal with are popular, but. . . . . .
I know some sites that this is the only reason they don't use PayPal.
I asked support@paypal and they said "keep checking back to see"
What kind of an answer is that?
Don't get me wrong. I like paypal. But for me to ask if there are any plans to include more cards, and then be told to just "check back"................:eek:
Well, I could tell I wasn't talking to "paypaldamon":D

I do know that the company is looking into adding Discover and American Express. I don't have a specific timeframe for when (or if) they become available, but I do know that we are looking at these options.

If Paypal adds the above mentioned features, I don't see why anyone would go elsewhere when they can have it all with Paypal!

Uhm... anyone whose country is not supported by paypal will go elsewhere :D

Alternatively... look at the % in fees they take, especially for non-US ppl.

It is 2.9% for the transaction, then 2.9% again to withdraw.

Revecom takes 3.9% but thats it.

The figures may be different (i'm doing this from memory of a few days ago) but we figure it is better to go with Revecom.

AND... since Instabill forces people to sign up with them first... well, would YOU sign up for something first, before you are allowed to pay for a service?
