I am somewhat new to this, I was hoping someone could walk me through it. I would like to use my own name servers so I dont have to add each domain to the my.serverbeach.com section of server beach.
How do I go about getting my own nameservers? Plus I think it would look better to have clients use ns1.mydomain.com and so on instead of ns1.geodns.com. Any help would be great.

Hi jsonline2k3,
Please let us know your server OS at least and any additional information regarding your server would be helpful to us in order for us to give you suggestion or guide.
Thanks.
Kindest regards,
Choon
Hi jsonline2k3 :)
First off, you need to get a domain you want to use and register it - if you're not going to use your existing one.
Then you need to go to your registrar and login to your domain management area and go to where it says something like "Domain Host Information" and add the prefix, eg. ns1 to the domain name and then put the IP number you have for it. (ie, your primary nameserver) and repeat for ns2 (you will need an extra IP to do this).
Some registrars don't provide a facility to do this, so you will need to contact them and they will do it for you.
What happens then depends on what Control Panel you are using (unless your'e using SSH). As choon asked, let us know what your OS and Control panel and then we can go on to the next step :)

Hi
Here is a thread I found on http://forums.CPanel.net that explains it. If you have any troubles... let me know here and we can go through it.
There's also plenty of threads here on WHT if you do a search for nameserver set up.
