Well, once a month I've been sending out email warnings to clients about that skeezy company; Domain Registry of America. I explain that they should completely ignore any "renewal" notices from anyone but me personally, but I just can't get them to listen. So far this week, 3 of them tried to "renew" with DROA, and it was only the registrar lock that prevented the transfer.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to warn users so they will actually pay attention? I've been considering singing telegrams...

Email your clients saying they will be breaking the law if they renew with DROA :D

lol, did you email them and tell them DROA is breaking the law and in doing such is a "shady" company? :)

In the past I've suggested that the parent registrar (you) scan a copy of the letter and post it on your website, with an explanation of course ;). Also send an email to all your clients with alink to the ltter.

As a last resort, send a copy of the letter with your own letter via snail mail to your clients, explaining if they see the DROA letter in the mail, they should toss it. :)

Most our customer domains have us in the whois - we get bucket loads of these letters through.

As for breaking the law: How is this illegal? I know in the past that they weren't making it clear it was a transfer and they were sued, but this batch clearly stated on the front that it was a transfer. It may be smarmy business, but I don't see it as illegal exactly...can you straighten me out?

Someone fancy scanning one of the letters and posting it here for us all to use? :)

Soon as I get another. The last dozen are lining the budgie cage ATM. Not suitable for scanning. :D

We used to get these in the mail too. I filed a formal letter of complaint with ICANN about the registrar including copies of their letters. Haven't seen another one since.

You should email/filed a complaint with enom since they are a reseller of enom.
