http://www.faxwave.com is a free service that gives you a number you can have faxes sent to, then they forward to any email address you choose.

J2 (http://www.j2.com) lets you receive faxes to your email for free, but you have to pay a fee if you want to send out faxes. We are currently using J2 for incoming faxes and voicemail, and we are pleased with the service.

eFax has descent service. I used it once, it took almost 45 minutes to actually get there, but it worked... The rate isnt that bad last time I used it. The 45 minute wait came at a very unopportune time though, so I hate to promote them... oh well.

I actually think I'm going to use Mail Boxes Etx, or Kinko's to do faxing... with MBE, you get a fax number and they call you when you get something. :)

One point about fax over the net, don't most firms use fax because they feel it is more secure then emailing.

How secure is faxing over the net?

Nah, they'll just fax it to ya, so you won't have to leave your chair.

I suppose fairly dry humor is lost on some people.
Oh well...so it goes.

missed the boat on that one, I assumed you had some wierd scheme to use mailboxes etc as a central fax number, and then have them fax it to your current location if you travel a lot... oh well

Yes seattlite, I believe that would be the point.

They call you and tell you you have a fax, you look down on the phone and get the fax number of the hotel, give it to them, and wait for the front desk to call.

(My experience is they usually don't deliver :bawling: )
Perhaps order it with a pizza?

slade, um sorry that you cant see that im referring to someone in a situation such as having multiple offices etc. Our office has two sales people at a different office, yet faxes are sent to the main office in Seattle. In this case we DO forward on the fax, by faxing it to the sales people when necessary.

When I first read the reply I assumed that he had some thing worked out to achieve something similar to the quirky situation described above.

I use a service from BellMobility where faxes are sent to my cells voice box, the phone beeps and tells me that it has a fax. I then dial in (either from my cell or a landline) and give the mailbox the phone # to send the fax to 3 mins later I have the fax in hand:)
