Hi....

I was wondering if onyone know of or has any experience with a multi user journal/blogger type script. I would perfer something in PHP and MySql but I guess I could live with perl if I had to. I've looked at hotscript but I didn't really find anything that turned my head...

Thanks

Its not in php - but its a great script..
GreyMatter - http://www.noahgrey.com/greysoft/

One of their members is writing a Journal script in PHP - you can find the link of his project on the boards there.

hehe, i was just about to suggest greymatter, it's superb for journaling of any kind.

err, and... blogger.com, give me a break! ;-P if you like having hours and hours where you can't post because they're down, or things just randomly disspearing and extremely limited design flexibility then blogger.com is for you!

hehe.... I had a feeling you'd notice this thread and post.. :D

There is also a new script that's in beta right now called B2 - its written in php/mysql. You can find it at: http://b2.dayzero.org. I haven't really messed around with it much - but its not had extensive as GreyMatter - but if you prefer php/mysql - this maybe a good choice.

There is also a script called Spud Code. You can find it at: http://www.spudcode.com. This is also written in php/mysql. I haven't installed it - so I don't really know what its like in the backend.

I found a number of scripts over at SourceForge and FreshMeat... You may want to check them out.

Hope I could help some... :)

Thanks for all the input, this is just the information I was looking for. Just for anyone that runs a search and finds this thread 6 months from now. Livejournal.com makes their code available as well it's just not really what I was looking for. It looks verrrrry involved!!

Ah, I just noticed this topic. Thanks for talking about b2. It's now gotten to version 0.5.1, with more features than before: long entries, bookmarklets, categories, a GreyMatter importer script, etc :)

Depending on what you're looking for, I've found postnuke (http://www.postnuke.com/) to be a good blog. It might be more than what you are looking for.
