I am looking for someone that knows servers very well that can teach me how to manage my own server. I have had servers for years and I have been looking for resources to learn how to run every aspect of them but with no luck.

I'm pretty much looking for someone to teach me through email, MSN, anything as long as I'm taught. I can pay with paypal, or with all the hosting you can imagine.

I need to learn everything from apache to qmail. I'll even pay for a bunch of links to teach me all this kind of stuff.

CONCLUSION: Looking for someone to teach me how to manage servers.

I would be more than happy to "teach" you how to manage a server. What aspects of managing a server are you interested in.

I'd like to start with the basics of running a server purchased from rackshack.net whatever it may be. It has Plesk and apache but all I know is Plesk but not the DNS side of it.

Whatever is the basic beginning I'm there! ;)

What if we started by learning root access and what everything is when you login to the root through FTP?

Apache has nothing to do with dns... do you want to learn the plesk cp? or how to manage your server from telnet/ssh?

I have a server @ RS, too. I', in a sysadmin business for three years now. Maybe we could cooperate in some way. PM me if interested.

I'm not sure where to start learning or what the basics are but that's where I'd like to start. What kinds of things should I learn to be able to manage a server all on my own?

I am VERY INTERESTED in learning how to run a server too. I have had Linux boxes and ran apache and a windows server a few times but nothing to put my clients on. Let me know if anyone would like to man a box or teach me the basics of hacker vulnerability and keeping uptime peak.

What type of server are you looking at running? If this is a Linux server, I have an fairly simple howto to help you get up and running.
