Ok here goes. I have been here for days reading through all the post about the best hosting plans. THere is so much I do not understand about all the info thats out there. I have made web pages for years but have always used free sites such as geocities since they were just personal pages. I have just made my first business page for my cousin and need to get it up and running. I have researched 100's of sites and just can;t decide on what to do. Here is what I need.
Its a simple site, just 10 pages with some pictures and much info about the business. there are no bells and whistles such as java and such. Just info about his hunting trips, airboat rides etc. I have made the pages off line using front page2000/windows xp. SO I need somewhere that supports front page.(I made the mistake already with one place that did not take that) you had to make your page with their templates etc. I would like the cost to be 12-20 a month if possible. I just want something reliable with a good control panel/ftp etc. There is just so much info I know nothing about so when you get to the certain sites its overwelming LOL.
I dont want to be taken for a ride, I just want to get this up and running ASAP. Please please can some one give me some tips. I have looked at some many hosting sites today that I want to pull my hair out. I appreciate any help in advance. I need to get back to my lif/my kids and get this up and running.

I am sure you can find an easy solution to this from the various hosts on this board. I suggest you make this exact post stating exactly what you need ( FP 2000 support , 12-20, immediate setup) in the request board.

Basically, your requirements sound pretty straight forward, really. Most "good" hosts should be able to accommodate you just fine. One big pointer though. Stay away from the Bargain Basement bunch! Too many of those are the summertime Skiddies, out to make a few bucks while bored during the summer...

I would suggest you skim a few of the threads here that list some of the favored/recommended hosts. Most will have plans that fall well within your needs. And, most also provide FrontPage Extensions. Just make sure they have that, and your FrontPage site will work fine. Finally, the favored ones will provide you decent support and reliability. The two things with tend to rule out the aforementioned Bargain Basement Bunch.

Since you're pretty fresh, I would probably also recommend a host that has cPanel, as its generally recognized as one of the easier to use, and has a lot of features. Putt'n on my flameproof vest for that one! ;)

Hope that helps!

Try findmyhosting.com. You can really find a good host there. They have independent ratings and uptime stats for each host making it especially useful.

Well it sounds as though youve overwhelmed yourself with info!
If you have been able to narrow down any choices at all then I would just advise a pre-sales email to them and see what the response is.
Good Luck

Thats the issue. I went through a thread that had like 80 posts, all giving good and bads hosts sites. I went to all the good ones and still cant figure out one to chose LOL. There are just too many out there LOL. Some of them say Frontpage 2002, and I only have 2000 so I wasnt sure if that would work.

Look through the Web Hosting Forum and also ask ask for recommendations. If you get any, then search for them, see what their reputation here is, see how they have conducted themselves. Frankly, the requests forum is not the place I would recommend. Also, you can look at signatures of those whose posts you respect. Then, email inquiries to those you have narrowed the field to.

Don't choose a host until the winter :)

As has already been said, don't choose a bargain basement host. When you've narrowed it down a bit

- check for an address
- send a few emails to sales (are they fast/helpful?)
- register your domain separately "should the worst happen"
- bit the bullet and choose one :)

That might not have been that helpful but you'll have to make your mind up some how :)
