I think one key since ive been on here, is the speed of this forum has slowed down.

It is still a great place no doubt, but its just runs slower.

I think maybe something should be done to speed it up

its been slow more then fast for me :( there are times when it loads in a giffy.. but the slow times are baaaaaaaad :(

I noticed a definite increase in speed when WHT upgraded to vBulliten 2.0. So if anything, WHT is faster.

Raj, all I can say is that I browse with DSL (and my new PIII933 computer) and the pages load instantly. No wait what-so-ever on my end. Very nicely served.

Not sure if the problem is location specific.

Nothing against anything i dont think this is on the fastest network in the world. Im in Chicago and it peers with a Above.net OC-48 line. Since one there are bigger backbones then that (OC-192) and two at 180ms thats not the fastest.

Joe, you're already at 100ms before you get outside your ISP's network. 80ms for the rest of the trip (from Seattle, it seems) is not unreasonable.

LOL. Looks like you've waived your rights to the 5th ammendment!

100ms to get outside your ISP. That's insane! I called tlct.net and talked to Greg. :confused: I'm not sure I got through to him, but someone needs to go over there and straighten out their routing tables

In addition, traffic is going all the way to the west coast and then to the east coast (from chicago). 180ms for this isn't bad (there's this thing -- called the speed of light, which you have to compensate for :D)

By repeatedly calling this site slow (in multiple posts), and insinuating that the slowdown occured after the host change, you are indirectly speaking against my company. In light of this traceroute, I would venture to say that this slowdown is caused by your own ISP, and not our network!

Not to back my ISP, but if that was the case then when i trace everything it would be slow, and that is not the case.

When I trace my servers, and many others the charts are not coming in at 180 ms.

I am not saying anything against your company, other then what my tracers show, which is slow. If reports where coming back at 40ms then i would say wow thats fast.

Many others have said that it has been slow also, so its not just me.

I think it really depends on where you are...

It has slowed down for me ...

but the speed fluctuates alot... sometimes it loads pretty nicely but other times it takes a whole day (exaggerated) to load the main page..

im with RoadRunner in NC, USA btw :)

ps. oh yea, what do you use to tracert ? im using just regular tracert in win2k... but all i get is IP addresses in the beginning...

actually yes it is your ISP if you trace anything to abovenet you would see similar results. it indicates the lines your ISP uses do not have very good connection to abovenet. when i do a trace to webhosting talk from here I see a minor slowdown in the abovenet network of about 60 ms hardly enough to actually refer to it as a slowdown. a total roundtrip taking 90 ms and I'm in Canada indicates to me the the host where this forum is hosted is damn speedy and the BB they use is also good so there is no issue.
