Why does Netscape suck so much? Without exaggerating, Netscape is the worst crap called a web browser in the history of the computer. How many times have you created a decent website, only to find out it looks like crap in Netscape?
The problem is not that I can't make a website look ok both in Internet Explorer and in Netscape, it's that to make it look ok in Netscape, you will have to remove 90% of the cool stuff. I'm just so tired of it!
And just to make things worse, they've added a stupid looking purple design to Netscape 6. Did you also know that Netscape 4.x leaves a blank 20px line on the right of the browser (where the scroll bar should be) if your page is not long enough to scroll? How did they try to fix this in Netscape 6? Well, they totally removed the space. So if you have a 2 page website, one with a scrollbar and one without, your page will jump left and right. Won't be centered at the same place on both pages. And don't even get me stated on how good Netscape handles CSS!
So what choices do we have? Remove all the cool stuff? Don't allow Netscape suers? Or just let it be and have it look like crap for Netscape users (they can blame themselves for using Netscape in the first place!)?
:uzi: Netscape
Aloha
make 2 sites one simple low bandwith one cool
push people over to the low when ya detect Nutscrape and say sorry you are not using a modern browser you are missing blah blah
yes even if you hae a modern ver of netscape it still sucks so get a real browser
or leave a disclaimer page if they come with netscape do a pop up and a cookie saying your browser is a oiece of junk go get a real browser but you may continue we cannot guarantee you will see what you should as your browser blah blah

I know, but this is not a personal website or anything. It's a company site and you want to look professional. Anyways, I've got the problem somewhat fixed.

Now that would be a good idea. I know a lot of people do not like M$, but you'll have to admit that Internet Explorer is the best browser. I'm using 5.0 on Windows2000 and it's awesome. It'sfast and rarely gives me any problems. And best of all, pages look the way they were ment to look in it!

I use Opera 5.12 on Windows 2000 (I used to use IE 5.0). Much faster than IE 5.0, and a whole lot more secure and respectful of my privacy.

About 90% of the hits to our site are IE, and about 5% are Netscape. I agree completely with you on you make a great site and then you look at it in NS and it looks like crap. Once you learn how to code for NS you can usually create the site with just a couple of changes. I pretty much code for NS 4.76, since it is somewhat stable.
However, NS 6 is the worst browser for me. I don't know if it is my installation of it or what, but I get different results every time I press the refresh button. I get flashing graphics, and I am not talking about animated gifs, just regular old static gif files that flash at an incredible speed. I wish I could create a gif that flashed that fast, it would be about 10 meg in size.
From the looks of the poll so far, most people hate it.
