kevinmac 07-21-2003, 11:39 AM Hello,
Can anyone tell me where to find industry information on the web hosting industry? I am looking for a list of the 10 largest web hosting firms.
Thanks,
Kevin

kevinmac 07-21-2003, 02:08 PM StephenM says "right here". If so, can someone please tell me where "right here" I can find a list of the largest hosting firms?
Thank you.

ataylor 07-21-2003, 02:12 PM try searching kevinmac...
Akash 07-21-2003, 02:35 PM You'd have to define largest - and WHT isn't the source for all the information about Webhosting.
Largest could be # of customers, # of domains, # of servers, amount of transfer, etc.
Use google ;)
kevinmac 07-21-2003, 03:17 PM I tried Google, can't find anything because of the huge number of web hosting providers whose google listings drown anything else. I thought I would find a magazine, or something like that, related to the industry. thewhir does not seem to have the info I am looking for. So I thought I would ask here to see if someone can direct me to the info.
Thanks,
kevin
BCRob 07-21-2003, 04:54 PM Might not have exactly what you're looking for, but there's interesting information available here http://news.netcraft.com/
my_forum_id 07-21-2003, 05:44 PM All the big companies claim to be the biggest.
I can think of three separate companies that ALL advertise themselves as the UK's largest host, it's all marketing hype and BS - you'll never know for sure if you've got the top ten.
FYH_Support 07-21-2003, 11:16 PM Many of the online directories really only cover those companies that are online-orientated from a marketing perspective. Many of the largest web hosts by customer base are those not typically discussed here. For example, the telco's and alternative telco's, eg. SBC, Verizon, Qwest, etc. probably would comprise at least half a 'largest 10 list' if one existed.

;)
Bling Bling 07-22-2003, 12:56 AM The biggest host is www.iwantfreehosting.com they have 7,000,000+ customers and transfer 9841287312837 TB of data a day and do it all for free.
BlueB 07-22-2003, 03:05 AM ...but, but - THOSE SITES DON'T WORK!!!!!! :(
haha.... imagine if that were true... Microsoft and everybody else would be jumping on in as well!
kevinmac 07-22-2003, 01:46 PM The Netcraft site is pretty much what I was looking for. I also found Internet World Magazine, which had some useful stuff.
Thanks,
Kevin
