host4students.com has announced an unbeleivable hosting plans lately. For $2 you get 500mb space/100mb monthly transfer for a fuul year!!! I know the bandwidth is so tiny, but for newbies, like me, who don't get much traffic anyway (at least for now) it's the cheapest plan I've ever heard of. They are resellers of donhost (http://www.donhost.com)
Anyone used their services before, I'd love to hear about them. Did anyone heard of such low low price anywhere else? :cartman:

Go for it! :)

With a deal like that you can't go wrong.. if the server never gets overloaded, then it's a great deal. If the server's overloaded in a couple of months then it's still worth it for $2. You'll just be getting what you paid for.

Good luck. :)

Anyone heard of Host4students.com? Although it is tiny but how can anyone beats $2/year. I recently just signed up for the service and I am new with all this. They supplied me with more than adaquate technical support and with such promptness through email. They have been very reliable and so far i have no problem with downtime. Nevertheless, i am still young at this so anyone who is using or used their services before please let me know more information about them.

I know that this is off topic.

I want to prove that he's a lier

donwonn's first post is to praise host4students, im sorry but you just happened to be following the board, and your VERY first post is as a happy customer(wonder what an IP check might pull up)?

And sallam is by far the most energetic customer, I have seen in a while, willing to try and advertise his host in another thread(which then gets locked), and than taking it upon himself to advertise in the Web Hosting Special Offers for his host.

I dont know, Ill refrain from an all out flame, but healthy skepticisim never hurt anyone.

Mods you can remove this, I wont be offended. I just have been on TOO many boards where things like this pop up.

I do wear a pair of glasses, Jedito... thanks.
I own the gawaher.com since 23-Sep-2000
I switched registrars, and the transfer was effective 06-Aug-2001
that's why the database you quoted from said it expires 22-Sep-2002. Because my new registrar, extends transferred domains one year over the period you still had before you order the transfer.
So, you see, I'm not a lier. It's just that your police work is not perfect enough. I may have misjudged you for a need of a pair of glasses. it seems that, what you really need is to do a little thinking when reading numbers?, it saves you a lot of embarrassment, Jedito, and some of my time.

Where is the old thread?
I can swear that you said that you own it from August 6 2000.

And that in the whois said 2000.. Well I read the whois and say 2001.
You can made it by yourself.

I don't know what Jedito is after. But I will follow the advise sent to me by some of the fine subscribers of this forum, to just ignore him.
Now for the guys who originally came to this page for info about my host, host4students, I'd like to update them:

-host4students.com now have a plan of 1500mb/400mb monthly transfer for just $1 per month! the cheapest you can get anywhere, ever. This does not mean they are cheap service, on the contrary, their uptime compares to the much more expensive hosts, and their servers' speed are impressive. They are actually resellers of donhost. Now some threads here reported that donhost servers go down sometime during storms or bad weather. For me, that is yet to be seen, as I subscribed while still it's summertime, so I hope they have solved this by now. But freom what I've seen till now, the servers are very fast.

The other problem, small monthly transfer, I solved myself by putting all my downloads in briefcase.yahoo.com which gives you 30mb for free to keep all kind of files. you can have as much accounts as you like.

All I'm trying to say here, is that it's not impossible for low-income webmasters, like mine, to find good solutions without compromising quality. I come from a poor country, so I'm used to hunting for good deals. Perhaps I over do it, to the degree that some of you acuses me of being host4sudent myself, a lot of guys did already, one even insulted me (named: Jedito) but I don't care. I will keep my standard of posting the facts for those who might be looking for it.

If yahoo does not solve your problems, then you must be one of those lucky guys who get loads of hits everyday! But even those can still find cheap solutions at host4students, you can get 3000mb/1gb for 22 per year, 5000mb/2gb for$42/yr, or even an icredible 10gb/4gb monthly transfer for $77/yr!!

This host is new in the business, these prices are an increase from a previous lower plan prices, so one might conclude that they might increase their prices in the future. But I have managed to convince them (by the way their E-mail support guy is very friendly and reply fast, often within 1 hour) to fix their prices for those who shoose to pay annually (meaning your credit card gets charged automatically each year the same amout, until you shoose to terminate your account) they still have the option of buying for once, then renew when it's due, manually. But in this case the price freese is not offered.

I was very glad to discover that some active users of this forum bought plans from them after I posted here about host4students.
Its always great to be of benefit to someone.
(PS. for all the guys who will propably flood this thread accusing me of all kind of weird things, I warn you, I will ignore all destructive posts. I will no more get dragged to these useless time-waisting side talks. Thanks)

Sorry I meant to lock this thread heh, somehow I got distracted. In looking at it however, although there is a bit of friction, and skeptical questioning, I don't think it needs to be locked. Just be sure you ask questions, rather than accuse someone incorrectly and I think the whole thread will go a bit smoother from here on out.

Don't bother with them!
When I was looking for a new host recently, I sent messages to all kinds of hosts and host4student never responded although I reminded them twice. I decided that paying a little bit more for SOME customer service is definitely worth it.

My account, with host4students, is almost 11 months old now. Their Email support is, honestly super. I usually get a reply within one hour, they are so friendly in support. Perhaps beppi addressed them in another Email, The best response you get is when you Email them at support@host4students.com. By the way, they now have better plans: I think $20 a year will get you 200mb/3mb transfer, $37 per year for 400mb/6mb transfer. Their plans also offer mukti ftp accounts/mail boxes/subs.
Their new server (they where previously resellers of donhost, but now run their own) is really fast and reliable (I get 'very good' rating from netmechanic, which I check often) their only drawback was about a month ago, when they where trying to install a backup system, and screwed things up, resulting in the deletion of my mySQL database. This caused painful rebuilding (I was fool not to backup my tables, though they run myphpadmin in the cp)
so I learned my lesson, they apologized ofcource. Apart from that, I can't think of any host cheaper and still offer superb space/transfer rate and speed, coupled with, tried and tested, speedy and friendly Email support. I recommend them highly.
