to buy online, one used to just fill his name, as appeared in the credit card, card no., and expiry date.
Now everywhere they ask you to fill a whole bunch of billing data, as it appears in one's statement. is this a new policy allover the web now? what happened? most of the time I get declined, for I have to memorise all that crap data all the time. anybody knows what happened lately?:cartman:

I have no idea about the credit cards company. When i order something online, I usually have the same problem. So I would like to know what is going lately too.

Security reasons. They can see the data you typed in and the data that the credit card is registered on.
I don't think the ever check though.

I read somewhere that visa and mastercard are getting a little more strict when it comes to info needed when charging cards. I am not sure where the source is now.

In reality, it increases security since the person may only have stolen a card number and not the address too. We check every sign up now.

They aren't exactly getting more strict, it's the merchants who are. Visa just passes on the cost of frauds etc... to their customers by raising interest rates.

Just want to make sure no one misreads this statement. I have an active merchant account. When I run a transaction, I give them the name/address/card no/expiry and they only tell me: Approved, Declined.

I have the option of adding some extra checks(which I do), to make sure address and zip match the official records, but the processor does not give me that information back, just Yes/No.
