I'm looking for some software or company that offers service (free would be great) so that i can offer free email to my visitors of my domain. I have some beefy servers, if I can find some software to do it myself. Also, if you know of any companies like (everyone.net) please let me know. I would use everyone.net but they are way to expensive (i dont want their free banner supported version).
can someone make some suggestions?
thanks in advance

You can also try hivemail. I believe they have something like a public signup form.

We actually had a bit of an unpleasant experience with Hivemail, we use SquirrelMail and are happy with it.

Qmail/SquirrelMail is your best choice.

use qmail with vpopmail and vqregister integrated into it. VQRegister allows you to have public signup.

What sort of unpleasaant experience? Can you provide some more detail?

It was purchased by one of our clients who wished to offer a free e-mail service through their site, they've had problems with very slow logins, PHP would often hit 120Secs and timeout, and drive our server load up as well. Changing mail checking methods (I believe you can use either real-time checking or a cron job) helped the problem somewhat but it still seemed to be very inefficient. As well the client has had many problems with unanswered support questions, you should know this is all through a third-party as for the support, but I can verify the login problems.
