Thank You, kunal 07-28-2001, 01:28 PM you could chillisoft ASP.. but its not a perfect solution... BenH 07-28-2001, 02:02 PM but it cost 500$ i need something free JonnyQuags 07-28-2001, 02:17 PM Check out http://www.apache-asp.org Its probably not exactly what you had in mind, but is free. The only other things I can think of for ASP on Linux are not free. ckpeter 07-28-2001, 02:47 PM Search the web for InstantASP, the last time I checked, that's free. Thank You, Aloha just so you know the chilisoft asp has limitations with components etc... that will not work with it if you are doing serious dev work with asp skip the unix version but if it is basic then ya should be OK Walter 07-28-2001, 04:33 PM Or simply convert the ASP pages to PHP, either automatically with ASP2PHP (don't remember the URL) or by hand. If that is possible it would be far better in my eyes, but probably it's not. globe 07-28-2001, 06:35 PM yes i think it's possible, check out www.plesk.com they will release 2.0 version by aug the 6th, it will have asp + php. But I don't think it will be performing as the "real" asp, just missing some libraries and modules ... although they say it will work fine. bye BenH 07-28-2001, 07:37 PM wow cool, i already thought take plesk and now with the asp im surly gonna take it Thank You drhonk 08-10-2001, 04:49 PM Just a note to everybody that are curious about running asp in Linux. I've test asp on linux using Halcyon, it looks like it's working fine. The only drawback is that my cpu resources and memory resources up about 400%. So unless you have a fast cpu with huge memory .. I wouldn't recommend it. ASP was built for Windows anyways... so .. let's try to keep it in windows.. hehe..:) :) Nicholas Brown 08-10-2001, 06:07 PM Originally posted by drhonk let's try to keep it in windows.. hehe..:) :) yeah - keep the trashy programing languages on the crappy O/S' ;) Eagle 08-10-2001, 07:51 PM Originally posted by Nicholas Brown yeah - keep the trashy programing languages on the crappy O/S' ;) hehehe GOOD ONE :D nice thread though.... let me subscribe to it here .... *clicks subscribe* Excellent! :) I'd be happy to get some more feed back on APACHE_ASP or any other FREE ASP thing, cause I am NOT gonna spend any money on crap (like NB said, it's for windows, not unix) mithilesh 08-10-2001, 09:45 PM I really feel good to know that I can use ASP on LINUX either it is not a better option. |
