Hi,

customer wants to use SSL (our certificate) I have no idea what he means, but when I activate SSL in the SITE SETTINGS menu, is it working then?

No, you'd need to install an SSL cert. on their domain. If they want to use yours, create a user within the site that has your SSL cert.

SSL is a way to encrypt data website users send to you, so that it is safe and out of the hands of foul play/hacking. For example, a credit card order form.

You need to register a certificate from an outside authority (costs between $99-400 depending on who you pick). You can search this board for "SSL certificate" and find the sources.

You can set it up two ways- make the customer pay for thier own certificate, and setup a subdomain called secure.customerdomain.com. The raq 3 manual, downloadable from cobalt.com, is the best way to learn how to do this.

Or setup a shared secure server, secure.yoursite.com, and provide all your customers a username under that site-to share the secure server. Search for "shared SSL" on this board for more info on that.

You can send your clients to www.freessl.com and do some homework. You will get step by step instructions for ssl.
