View Full Version : I request all WHT members to guide me
picasso 07-17-2003, 12:12 PM Hi
I request all the WHT members to please guide me which control panel ( CPanel or Plesk ) is better, user friendly and most likely by user
NickRac 07-17-2003, 12:17 PM Personally out of the two, I'd say go w/ CPanel, but if you'd be willing to, give DirectAdmin a spin.
LightningWeb 07-17-2003, 12:18 PM Ensim Pro :D
I think you'll find the general favorite is CPanel, are you considering this for a reseller account, or your own hosting services, or just for yourself?
I think you'll mostly find that CPanel is the first choice for the majority of people looking for a hosting account that have a little knowledge of control panels, but if it's just for yourself obviously the important thing is which you prefer.
You can find some demos of CPanel @ http://cpanel.net and plesk @ http://www.sw.com.sg/en/market/demo/
bonnmac 07-17-2003, 12:38 PM Of those 2 I would say cPanel. However my preferences listed below in order.
DirectAdmin
cPanel
Ensim Pro
Plesk
Cirtex 07-17-2003, 12:41 PM The major Control Panels are as stated above
CPanel , Plesk, Ensim and Direct Admin and Webmin
The most user friendly 1 is CPanel, but that doesnt mean its the most secure, but again thats why many prefer CPanel/WHM over other control panels, because its easy to use and with many good looking skins included.

FHDave 07-17-2003, 01:00 PM somebody forget HSphere :)
Our clients prefer HSphere. Err, actually we use HSphere so all of our clients currently "prefer" HSphere. Isn't it how it goes? :)
flashgear 07-17-2003, 01:17 PM We are also a H-Sphere rooters :D , but Cpanel has had a longer life span , so I belive people have gotten quite used to it . I have even had answered PreSales queries where the customer asked me " what Cpanel ( not control panel , get the joke ) do you guys use " ;)
flashgear 07-17-2003, 01:19 PM but saying the above ...... I still feel H-Sphere has more interesting options included in it . and given the time, it will be more of a customers favourite ..... ( as we say .... simply too many features :D )
NW Web Nick 07-17-2003, 01:43 PM cPanel is really good.
picasso 07-18-2003, 11:05 AM thanks to all who replied me. What about Ensim, Is it as much user friendly as Cpanel or not and people like it or not?
Coach 07-18-2003, 11:58 AM Our customers like it and it's not nearly as buggy as cpanel and it's a much more secure control panel. Unfortunately, cpanel has a reputation for being easily exploited in the past... i.e. from spammers using the formmail script that is included, hackers using bugs in installed software to deface sites, etc. cpanel may be user friendly, but it's not the first choice of control panels for those that are concerned about security imho.
Ensim is what we use and we like it from an administrative standpoint and haven't had any complaints from our customers. It's pretty easy to use. If you'd like to see a demo of it, PM me and I'll give you the info on it. Additionally, United Hosting uses a customized version of Ensim, so that would be another company to contact if you wanted to take a look at to see what it was like. Dixiesys.com would be another reputable company.
