I am moving to a new hosting company for my site. My website is currently on a Windows2000 machine and my new server is running UNIX. Both have FrontPage extensions (which I am using). Are there any special precautions/procedures which I should do to make sure the move goes as smoothly as possible?
Thanks for your help! :)

I did this conversion two month ago, it was a really pain because the st*pid web designer didn't care to design the pages properly - and there were plenty of pages. He relied on Windows specific things like case insensitive file names and so on - be prepared for some work. Assure that all filenames are lowercase and all references to them too.

this is probably really obvious, but hey :)
back everything up and keep a solid copy offline somewhere like on a cdrom :)
if you can swing it, get the new place up and running before you cut off the old one. put all the copies of your stuff in the new place, and make sure everything is ok there, *then* pull the plug on the old one. that will make things a little smoother. otherwise you might have a lot of downtime while you start finding out what things aren't working over in the new site, and why :)
below10host has a useful short section in their faq at http://below10host.com/faq.php - look for the section titled "Q - How do I transfer my domain to your servers?"
good luck! :)
