I emailed them about what will happen after the first year. They told me they are implementing the site so they can register my domain more than 1 yr. Is that a LIE? It is so easy to add some HTML and SQL to make it more than 1 year. Will they be an ******* like totalnic, once beyond the first year or transfering out?

I would think if they bring in the option to renew the domain after the first year, it wont be anywhere near the price you paid, most likley $15 perhaps more.

The reason they have that price of $5.95 to start with is to get people onto their hosting accounts, there's no incentive for them to allow people to renew domains at that price if they are not hosted there.

I would think about transfering the domain out to godaddy or somewhere else.

Hello all,

quite often I go to the iregistrations site and it is down - http://www.iregistrations.com/ Has anyone else experienced this (it is down at the time of writing).

Also, as soon as you can (usually 60 days(?)), pczeoy, I would also transfer the domain name away. Several registrars offer this for as low as $7.99 and they add one more year to your expiration date.

Yep it is down for me. Just wondering - has anyone had any problems transfering away from iregistrations?

There are ICANN regulations regarding the transfer of domain names away from registrars which, if ignored, can lead to registrars losing their right to register names.

Therefore, as long as you do not try to transfer names too close to expiration or renewal, there really should be no problem to transfer names away from anyone, as long as one realises that it can someimtes take about 10 days to go through after all the formalilties are dealt with.

If after about a week of submitting a transfer you find a registrar is somewhat slow in responding, simply call or email them to remind them that they are obligated to transer the name under ICANN regulations. They will comply. Losing the ability to register domain names is just not worth it.

They have hijacked my domain, they refuse to unlock it, they refuse to issue me a password that works and even thought I have canceled the free trial hosting and search submission they continue to bill me on my credit card for it. I have the FDIC looking into the bank who keeps honoring this recurring transaction that I have long ago cancelled. What a scam this has turned out to be.
